Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

My Hubby has put Ubuntu 10.10 on his netbook just a few minutes ago. He told me to tell you all, it works as-is, and without having to search for drivers. Just so you know.Smoke
If anyone puts a different OS on theirs and decides they will never go back to Win7, I could use the COA sticker for my old netbook. It's on XP, and I'd really like to dual-boot it to Win7, but money is too tight to buy another package.

I'm tempted, but I don't want to be the first to try Ubuntu Netbook 10.10 on it. I have bad memories from the past of trying to get drivers, function keys, card readers, etc working. I am tempted to try to set up a dual-boot configuration though.
That's what Live CD's (or live usb drives, or... can you boot off an SDHC card?) are for, just test it first. I've found that driver support in Linux has been pretty exceptional the last few years.

I probably won't go with the netbook edition, I'm not a big fan of Unity, though I may give it a spin if I find the screen uncomfortably small. I'll either stick with standard (for now) Gnome Ubuntu, the lighter Xubuntu, or the full-featured PinGuy derivative.

Hi all, Newbie here. I have been following this thread since Outwit The West ended. I am still waiting for my netbook, bonus gift, email, or anything from M'boro... it will come soon enough.

SynGal, can you repost the link for the discounted glasses? thanks.
Actually the nationwide one expired, but if you are in CA it is going on Thursday, then they will be announcing more states so keep an eye on it!! Here is the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/CoastalCo...8419626061

Good morning Smilie
I have learned so much on this site. Here is a question for all you computer guru's out there. It's probably a dumb question but here goes anyway. My laptop screen is blank now. It is about 4 years old. If the battery is bad would it still work if I plug it in? I tried plugging it in and it is still blank but don't know if I should invest in a new battery or new computer. The on light is lit up and I get a flash of light when I turn it on before it goes blank.

Good thing the netbook is being delivered today!!

He said something earlier about the sasquatch being on his hit-list...but not sure this gun is big enough for that hairy beast.
No regular bullets for Sasquatch. I plan on using one made from that special radioactive isotope that was used to kill the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms! I'm taking no chances, Sasquatch is going down and I'm liberating his jerky stash! woot

Yes, it should work if it's plugged in even if the battery is shot.

Mvario, any thoughts on an external dvd drive for the netbook?

Thanks for the info. I was actually thinking about it last night after I posted, and I have never installed Linux on a remotely new machine. I have a spare license for Win7 Ultimate, so I'm going to try that and see if its not too slow. Otherwise, linux here I come.
