Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Netbook just arrived!!! woot While I am grateful for the free computer, I really hope we don't get 1099 forms for the $589.xx retail value, since it only sells for around $295.xx. I got the N145, everyone else getting the same one?

I'm not trying to argue, but I just checked the netbook again... when I connect the mouse, the netbook recognizes it, and both the touch pad and mouse work. I just don't see any reason to disable the touchpad if it's not interfering with the mouse.
That was my point - both of them work if you don't follow my instructions. If you prefer using a mouse, the touch pad gets in your way when you are just trying to type. Since you like having them both activated, then of course keep them both on. I saw many posts by people who didn't like the touch pad. I find it much easier to turn it off if I have a mouse, so the cursor doesn't move if my thumb bumps into the pad while typing. It's a personal preference, though, so do whatever you prefer. I was trying to help the people that already posted with complaints about the pad.

This is the one I am looking at. It also has a $10 rebate. I don't know much about this stuff!! http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Extern...B003YT578O
Personally, I'm not a fan of the "slim" drives. Unless you really need the small size because you'll be transporting them a lot I would go for a full size drive. The slim ones are based around laptop drives and in my experience they just don't last as long as full size drives (and they tend to be slower),

This, plus I'd be wary of a vertical disc drive -- it seems like it may not hold up well with how fast DVD's and CD's spin. It just seems counter-intuitive to have all the moving parts oriented vertically.

No problem. It doesn't seem to be as big an issue if you are just reading, but if you burn a lot, my experience is that slim drives have a considerably shorter lifespan.

Since they are not legally obligated to send out 1099's unless it's over $600.00, I don't think we have to worry about it. shake head

I found a cool feature at goggles4u.com. You can try their glasses on virtually if you upload your picture.

jemeredith, I ordered the one you were looking at. Smilie It should be here on Saturday.

I liked this one because of the low power draw. It is possible to fry a USB port, and since we only have 3, I didn't want to risk it. Also, this one doesn't need to be put on the stand. You can leave the stand off & lay it down flat. I also liked the small size so I can throw it in a suitcase and watch DVD movies when I'm travelling.

You could try hooking up an external monitor to it
Thanks!! I'll try that when I get home from work. I'll have time since UPS is saying that my netbook may be delayed due to adverse weather conditions. Must be left over weather conditions since the sun is shining where I'm at. But it is really cold Cold
