Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

thanks bob I found the memory at newegg - but what is the difference between pc3-8500 and pc3-10600 ? will they both work and is one faster or better than the other?
Your (our, someday...) system requires at least pc3-8500 but will work just fine with the faster (and currently cheaper) pc3-10600 keeping the same 204 pin SO DIMM form factor.

Think of it this way. You require a car that has a top speed of 133 MPH, if you buy a car that has a top speed of 166 MPH you will have no problem only going 133 MPH.

The Sammy requires a PC3-8500 SO DIMM which run at 133 MHz but work fine with a PC3-10600 SO DIMM that can run up to 166 MHz.

Most of the time in cars and memory it costs more to go faster, in this case faster (though not required, and not going to be used to its full potential) is currently cheaper and since this is Slickdeals cheaper is better.

So disappointed...I opened my little camcorder that I got from the Country Rewards program today to use it for the first time and it's broken. I opened up the cover to put the batteries in and one of the 4 battery slots is missing the little spring. Do you think if I call them they will replace it?

I'd give them a call, but you would probably get further and a faster response from the manufacturer.

Guess great minds that think alike also have great taste buds that taste alike. bounce
Must disagree on this one... the banana ice cream with chunks of brownie is amazing. They have a birthday club. Looks like it is not working now, but check back later http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/..._home.aspx

Won a Dentyne shirt last night. Yet another contest where they decide what size shirt to send. At least Sobe gave you a choice (or course, they ran out of 2XL, so sent me useless XLs). They'll probably send a useless L or something.
If your wife is handy with a sewing machine, I have the answer. Might want to add a lining though Embarrassment

Here is an article about ReadyBoost (may help improve Netbook performance)...

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/15...eadyboost/

The only thing I don't like is how the SD card sticks out a little bit... kind of irritating if it is going to be there all the time.
Well, I'm not sure I particularly like ReadyBoost. It uses the SD card as virtual RAM, which improves performance. The problem with that is that there are a limited number of writes on an SD card, and if Windows is swapping memory in & out all day, you are going to use it up much more quickly than if you just used it in a camera, or for transferring files.

True. But according to Microsoft:

"Q: Won't this wear out the drive?
A: Nope. We're aware of the lifecycle issues with flash drives and are smart about how and when we do our writes to the device. Our research shows that we will get at least 10+ years out of flash devices that we support."

Even factoring in a 50% MS "fudge" factor that's five years of use. I can imagine in 5 years whatever we are using as flash memory will be orders of magnitude cheaper, larger, and faster making this years 8GB SD card look like one of those 32MB cards of yesteryear.

I am basing this also on someway of making the "free" 8GB card that comes with the "free" netbook working as a RB device. So the cost will still be $0. Smilie
