Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Some people have been going over to the Snus thread here on SD. I haven't been over there much personally.

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2568243

Some will use both threads, and others will just stay here. No, we don't have to answer the questions correctly to be entered into the drawing for prizes....it's just a random, luck thing this time.
To me, that takes the pressure off, so I will just stick around here on the Funny Farm.
That's good. I like it here, really. I am getting off and doing my taxes. Been procrastinating so just get it over with. If everyone leaves here, could you write me to let me know? Thanks.

I've been procratinating that job, too. Yesterday, I picked up the 1040A booklet at the library, so I have everything I need except the extra cash to pay into the Fed.

I know NOTHING about wireless. Have a DSL modem and would like wireless for the netbook. Guess I need a wireless router but don't know what kind to get, and if it will work with my DSL modem as there are no spare jacks to plug into.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
Here is an article about setting up a wireless network using a router.

http://www.velocityguide.com/dsl/...outer.html

You don't need a spare jack to plug the router into, you just connect your router between your modem & computer. The article will explain that. Any router you get will give you step-by-step instructions on how to hook up the router.

If I was to use Linus for an OS, will that still enable me to use the Microsoft Office?
For practical purposes let us just say 'no'. But of course there is always LibreOffice.

I assume you connect to your modem with Ethernet (that is, it's not an internal modem)? In that case then you just need to add a wireless router. Pretty much any kind will do (except 802.11a-only, but you'd have to go out of your way to find one of those). An 802.11b/g will probably be the cheapest, but an 802.11n will give better performance.
