It will work, but it isn't going to be any faster. The computer will run the memory at a specific clock speed. you can put in the same kind of RAM rated for a higher speed, but the computer is still going to run it at the speed the motherboard is designed to run it at.

I'm not any expert on this, but access point, I think just means: Kind of like a splitter to your internet service. You can plug in 4 ethernet wired computers or such, in addition to your wireless connections. If you would notice, your modem probably has only one plug in, for internet "out."

An "Access Point" is a wireless connector to the internet. Many times routers have built in "access points" which makes them wireless routers as well as wired routers.

If all your computers are wired to the router you don't need the "access point" as you aren't using any wireless connections.

Does that help?
