Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

Aw, but Gru isn't really evil....he's a softy at heart! Remember, he gives everyone a kiss goodnight in the end....even his adorable little minions.

Well, thanks for the good wishes, anyway! I couldn't believe my luck, either! lol I literally couldn't believe it, right, cw? Yeah, this nb will be perfect. Now all I need to do is read all the prior posts in regards to it. I don't suppose anyone has set up a wiki w/pointers, cheap cases, etc?
I do have a quick ?? - while I understand the need for partitions, do I really need one on the netbook? I don't foresee storing info on it. I just read mvario discussing it recently but of course it didn't pertain to me. shake head
Probably the only reason you would want to set it up with two partitions (one for the operating system, one for data) rather than one big partition, is if you are one of those folks (I'm not, but I know a lot who are) that likes to re-install their operating system occasionally when it gets slow or flaky because of stuff that's installed over time. If you have your data in a separate partition you can just reinstall the OS into it's existing partition without having to backup your data first (though you probably should anyway)

I did that questionnaire also, said I qualified, not sure if that meant they were sending me one. Is it wireless? I wasn't sure. Would be nice if it were 802.11n since the netbook interface supports that, the one I have is just b/g

But, yeah, the FCC really needs to get on the carriers here, we have some of the worst rated Internet among all the countries in the world (surprising, huh?)
Ive been watching tech around the world and we are even behind Pakistan!!! Its sad when 3rd world countrys have FREE internet and NEVER drop calls!!! It is wireless its a Netgear WNR3500L. My son wants to trade me but I told him to sign up himself. Hes going to flash my modem to get more speed.

I need feedback from those who know about such things. Having 2GB memory installed, will this Notron 360 4.0 bog down our NBs? $15 final price for 3 computers vs. $70 or whatever it will be to subscribe to the Norton for NBs that we have for 60 day trial is too good of a deal not to check out.

Norton Internet Security 2011 for 1 computer is also on sale for $20 final price.

Stay away from Norton - very bad experience with them - screwed up my computer. There are free antivirus sites that do just fine.

I can REALLY empathise (?sp) with you there. Kept using the PC mouse when meaning to use the netbook one. The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to.
I was at my computer desk doing the set up for my sisters netbook!!! Im just so used to using my keyboard. I was getting really frustrated that nothing I was typing was showing up on the screen!! Good thing my son called before I could make a very embarrassing phone call to report it broken!! Big Grin

Has any one seen great deals Cool like the buffalo 150 mbps routers that have been mentioned earlier? I still have my old one that runs 54mbps from before my presario f700 died (like every other person who bought one shake head ,)
Went ahead and ordered the PC3 10600 2G kingston ram from new egg $22.99 free shipping.
Good deal! I'll tell you what, I know they're supposed to be great but I could never recommend D-Link! Did I say never? OK, just making sure! I got a Dir-655 for a crap ton of money and it lasted two months. I spent hours on the phone w/tech support. My son bought me a Netgear for Christmas & it purrs like a kitten. It still irritates me, though.

Saw a video of a guy trying to order McDonalds and pay for it with his cell phone. He was drunk and the hosts on the show were laughing at him saying how stupid he was to try to pay with his phone. Come to find out a lot of countries have that. You can swipe a vending machine with your cell phone and purchase stuff in Japan. It just makes so much sense

Ok, finally caught up on the posts, and voted for both kitties! Anyone else from SD on the contest who needs a vote? Only voting for my SD friends, all others can fend for themselves!

Thanks for the info. Now, I'll have to think about it because I have been known to re-install the OS on occasion. On the other hand, I haven't heard many good things re: 7 Starter so I may change the OS. Now, I'm remembering a post from someone re: buying an upgrade at a cheap price. If this is going to require a thought process, I may have to wander off and deal (Look! Squirrel!) with it later! BTW, I named it Fluffy. Smilie
