Hi all,

I started this thread for anyone who wants to come here for lite discussion, jokes, and just general discussion and fun.

Everyone is welcome!

I was thinking that maybe it would be helpful to keep the original thread to a bit more of a serious discussion of the clues and answers.

This would make the original thread more useful to those seeking serious information and clues without having to read through hundreds of extraneous messages.

So, I hope it catches on !

So pop a beer and pull up a chair and relax !

I did and loved it. When I first saw the minions, I was thinking the aliens in TS, "The claw. The claw." The "Hey, wait a minute ..." was re: my future (Angie's hand-me-down) minions and my evil plans. Eh. My humor is iffy on a good day and I really am doing (OK, trying to do) about 5 things right now. Come to think of it, my ability to multi-task is iffy on a good day!
I saw your Angie hand-me-down minions.....not too shabby! When I read the word minions, couldn't help but think of Despicable Me. My girls and I have watched it a bunch of times since we got the DVD. Even found a gal on ebay to make them the pink Edith hat, and Gru's scarf. They look so stinkin' cute wearing them!

Really? I've found with the dailies, at leas on Linux, most are really stable, but then like once every couple of weeks one slips out with some issue and it takes a few updates for them to iron it out again. When that happens I fall back to Chrome or Opera until it's fixed... using Chrome at the moment. The latest FF4 isn't unbearable, aside from the bookmarklet issue, but some pages are really slow and there may be a memory leak. It still has the best addon system though, and the best collection of addons, so I always go back.
That's what I like about Firefox too.....the great add-ons, and the general layout.
What do you mean "dailies"? Does the beta version automatically install updates like Version 3.6 did? Haven't used it in over a week, so don't know if I'm due for updates.

Try Beta 11 and see if it is any better. http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/
Is that the beta version you use? Any issues?

None so far, but I have only been using it for a few days.

They make changes to the code every day. There are official beta releases that happen periodically and are usually fairly stable. Dailies on the other hand are compiled versions of each day's code, so sometimes they aren't as stable as official beta releases. The latest that I have is called version pre-13 (some stable iteration will eventually be beta 13). This is the second pre-13 that the Ubuntu team has compiled and released. There's also dailies for Chromium and Opera, and a stable beta for Chrome. I'm using just release versions of Chrome and Opera as they are my stable go-to browsers when Firefox isn't feeling well.
There should be a new pre-13 beta for Firefox early tomorrow, though I have a feeling it won't be until next week that they fix the regression problem.

As for the updates part of your question...
They do in Linux. Wink But updates in Linux are handled, for the most part, differently than with Windows, with software coming from Repositories and PPA's. (or other sources depending on the distro) If you ever do Linux I'll explain it to you

Thanks for explaining dailies. I didn't know they had a beta version of Chrome. I will have to check it out. It's been my go-to browser when Firefox acts up too.

Yeah, all the major browsers are constantly pushing forward new versions. Firefox, Chrome, and Opera all have betas going for their next versions, and they'll just roll on to the next version after that once those reach release versions. No standing still in the browser market.

I'm still a bit afraid of trying Linux.....don't feel like I am computer savvy enough for a whole new OS. One of these days I should try your suggestion of making a Live CD and trying it on for size.

That's all the makeup for that photo shoot. Wink

Yeah, nothing to lose trying out a live version of Linux. You can make a bootable Ubuntu flash drive and give it a spin. I really love it on the netbook.

It even lets you change the wallpaper Wink

My understanding is that Windows 7 Starter doesn't let you change the wallpaper. Is that cheap and petty or what?
