9.0 Earthquake near Honshu Japan; Major Tsunami hits Japan (((related news stories in post 515)))

They are expecting a Tsunami of up to 10 feet high. Buildings were shaken in Tokyo, no word yet on damage. It was only 15 miles deep and 81 miles east of Honshu.

as for putting them in the safe areas… nothing is truely safe… there are always plane crashes, meteors(meteorites/meteoroids), terrorists, etc
i do kinda disagree on that.. we do need to do more because nuclear fallout is horrible
Does it make sense for the Japanese to prepare for such an eventuality? It would appear so. Does it make sense to decry that we shouldn't build any nuclear power plants in the US unless they can withstand the same thing? Definitely not.

i am actually thiking that this might help the economy because there will be a lot of infrastructure that needs to be rebuilt, japan has been in a huge recession and hopefully this will spur "Big Works" style economic recovery for them.
I dont know that cost of electronics will rise because i think that most production is still done in china but i am not in any way truely knowledgeable
