I hate Army officers what freakin pricks. I was with two other Sgt's walking in to the BX , we passed some Army grunts and one one was a major. We didn't see his rank, Well next thing I know he is yelling SARGENT'S! SARGENT'S! AIR FORCE SARGENT'S DID YOU NOT SEE MY RANK! I said no we obviously didn't and then we saluted his fat ass. My gosh he is on a Air Force base, his rank is in the wrong place. Air Force officers are not as rank crazy.

Really, though... Some people do get crazy rank happy. Chances are, he was just trying to make a point since he was on an Air Force base. I've had people yell at me for less.

The oak cluster on his beret should've been an indicator of his rank, btw. Wink

The way you fix that real fast is, "Yes, sir! Roger that, sir! Didn't see your rank, sir! Didn't mean to disrespect you, sir! Can I carry on, sir, or do I need to salute you some more, sir?"

Being in a different branch, I would've just turned and kept walking.

Yea I told my people to start looking at the hats. Other wise the rank on the Army abu is in the middle of the shirt. We tend to look at the lapels

I'm an E-4, so I tend to get away with a lot of shit. We're in that awkward position where we're not privates, but we're not NCOs, either. You can generally act ignorant, "I didn't know what I was doing, sir. I'm just a dumb special private." or you can delegate down to the actual privates. Being in the National Guard, we're in a position where it's extremely hard to start any form of NJP to demote anyone above E-3... so we tend to have a little bit more leeway if someone's being a total dick.

I've trolled a master sergeant (E-8) that was just being a d-bag for no good reason. It was lulzy.
