One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

I really want to see The King's Speech, everyone I know who's seen it has loved it.

Watched Robin Hood last night, the one with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. I liked it, and I'm not really into these medieval stories, but that didn't matter for this movie.

Sat down and watched Edge of Darkness last week, I thought it was a bit chaotic, and felt a bit rushed.

Watched Alpha and Omega with our daughter, thought it was pretty good. We enjoyed it.

we watched Salt on Friday night, and as much as i've grown to dislike Angelina Jolie - i thought it was pretty good. lots of action, a bit of a twist that i wasn't expecting. i won't buy it, but if i saw it on one of the movie channels, i probably would watch it again. 7/10

I was thinking that there's no way that it's real...Banksy was totally behind the movie and he created the MBW character (intentionally as a total goof but also to expose the commercialism in the popular art world.)

Banksy/MBW used the Obey/Andre the Giant thing, but that was created by Shepard Fairey (the same guy who created/lifted the Obama/Hope design).

Either way - great movie.

Okay...I could get behind that.

If that were the case, I might like it even better.

Saw Green Hornet 3D. It was the funniest super hero movie I've ever seen. If you think any of Seth Rogen's movies are funny you'd like it. No need to see it in 3D. Just watch the regular flat version and save some money.

The Town: Pretty good but about 30 minutes too long. 8.5/10
True Grit: Pretty good. I watched it because everyone here seems to love it. For some reason, I keep thinking that there will be some sort of twist at the end, which there wasn't.

I'm a pretty big Netflix fan, especially being a horror/foreign movie fanatic...
Recently I watched 'Guzaarish", a Hindi love story about a quadriplegic former-magician and the relationship with his caretaker, and his fight for his right to euthanasia/mercy killing. Pretty interesting story, I'd definitely recommend if you're into quirky foreign films Smilie

Sounds interesting! Thank you for the recommendation.

I'm re-watching the original Dark Shadows series.

Angels and Demons - trying to get through it for the 6th time now but easily distracted from it. I recall trying to read The Da Vinci Code and being unable to get into that either.

Oddly, the small budget religious production The Omega Code with Michael York was much more entertaining.

The Blind Side - 4.5/5 - I'm not usually interested in touchy-feely, true story movies, but this was well done. I'm also not interested in football, but still enjoyed it.
I did find it funny that Kathy Bates had a role as the tutor. Whenever she was on screen I kept thinking "Foolsball is the devil". laugh out loud

Should I skip it if I don't find Seth Rogen that funny, especially his annoying laugh?

Splice - It was so bad we ended doing a Mystery Science Theater commentary over it and making accurate plot predictions.
I do that with about every movie I watch.

"Flipped" - A cute Rob Reiner film about a couple of kids growing up in the 50s. Pretty good.

"I Think We're Alone Now"
- A documentary about two creeps/stalkers who are all about Tiffany (the singer) - it. I would have liked it more if it was a bit more polished/better thought out in terms of sequencing.

"Blue Valentine" - Very good film. Michelle Williams was excellent in it.

"Red Cliff I" - Pretty good. I'm glad they didn't resort to too much of the "flying dude on wires" gimmick.
