One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Secret I swear I still have to take a couple minutes to remember which was which. They both came out at about the same time. Both are good flicks.

Great Danton FTW!
100% agree

The Prestige >>> The Illusionist

Not that Illusionist is bad, I thought it was very good and I am an Ed Norton fan. The Prestige was incredible, I got goosebumps after watching it. Great actors and story, Micheal Caine just seems to make movies that much better. A must watch movie imo.

Secretariat and The Fighter - both were fairly predictable but still enjoyed em

want to watch Inside Job and Collapse - one of these days before going to the firing range, so I don't throw things at and break TV

Winter's Bone - Saw this last night, depressing and a bit slow, but glad I saw it.

The Cry of the Owl - (almost picked Chloe but the trailer just looked predictable.) Very slow wind up mystery suspense with some shockers in the last 15 minutes of film. I liked how all the characters are crazy so it becomes a matter of who's crazier.

Oxford Murders- Like watching an episode of Murder She Wrote with different actors and irrelevant math thrown in. I also could have done without the male "sack" shot tyvm.

I like the mystery suspense genre. Do you think I would enjoy this movie?

( I especially enjoy movies about crazy people ). LMAO

I've been watching "Magnolia" today online, but have watched my 72 minutes of megavideo allowed and I'm just waiting the required 30 minutes to continue. The movie is a "character study" which usually I enjoy, but there are too many "characters" and for the most part the characters are pretty boring. Frown

I've watched too much to give up now, though.

You might like Cry of the Owl if you can handle a slow pace. I jumped ahead twice just to try to gauge where it was going and got zilch. And early on you realize everyone is Crazy. It's based on a novel by the same author that wrote The Talented Mr. Ripley. If you do watch please post what you thought of the last scene. EEK!

Did you watch the French one or the remake? It sounds interesting.

It couldn't possibly be much slower paced than what I've been struggling to finish all day ( Magnolia ). Yawn

I'll check and see if Cry of The Owl is available to watch free online as I'm way too cheap to rent movies anymore or pay for a service since about half of them aren't worth seeing. I'll let you know if I can find and watch it. Thanks! hug

The remake with Julia Stiles. I'm really curious about the book now too - if it gives things away or lets it all out at the end. From the start it's like Charades - you're making all kinds of predictions out loud. laugh out loud
