High Five We haven't gotten in to the different kinds of bread yet. We're still working on getting the shape right. Since switching from flour to milling our own grain, the bread doesn't rise quite as well. Sifting it has worked wonders, but I still think it needs more yeast.

My grandmother could have told y'all what to do. I looked at my bread maker recipe she gave me. She was very specific about the yeast. She said use active dry yeast and put it in last, plus the water has to be at room temp. It's probably different without a bread maker.

We use the instant yeast because it's 8 times cheaper than the active dry yeast. It may just be a compromise we have to live with though since we make the bread every other day. The active dry yeast is too expensive to keep up with the amount of bread my kids eat. It's all the kids fault.....and don't get me started on milk prices.

You could get a milk cow. I'd give you theirs if I could. It is scary and likes to chase people.
