Another theory on obesity

There are many theories on the causes of obesity. Some say too much fat, too many calories. Ironically, many of the modern diets have generally failed to fix the problem.

The above video is long. For people who will reply with tl;dr here is the synopsis:

Watch it if you get a chance. I really enjoyed it and found it both eye opening and informative, without needing some shock factor or sex to sell it. It follows a simple premise and makes a lot of sense.

The fat problem in this country started when schools stated limiting or removing the physical education. This all stated about 20 years ago and it isn't a coincidence that the fat problem in this country started right after that.

Today, kids play video games and sit in front of the computer all day instead of going out and running around. Playing like kids are suppose to play. They use their cell phones or text friends instead of walking to their friends house.

The problem is not sugar. The problem is the education in this country.
I think it is our diets too. I agree with everything else.

Sure, if you eat nothing but junk food then diets are definitely a part of it...but junk food in moderation is fine.

I have no problem allowing McDonalds for my kids. Hell, I'll eat a Big Mac with them. I love my chocolate and I won't stop my kids from eating their favorite snacks because I am not a hypocrite.......but, they do not play video games during the day. They have to play sports. They have to go outside and do what kids do.

I will never blame the food for obesity. I will always blame the parents for allowing obesity in their house.

Guys, I used to believe all of those very things. It's still mostly people's fault, but the WHY it's their fault is what changed in my mind.

Watch the video and then come back and reply. The video makes a very convincing argument and has a great deal of data, including filling holes of HOW we got into this problem (how sugar got into everything we consume).

Comfort You've only just seen a glimpse in to the world of science, health, and conspiracies. laugh out loud

Read this post for the real "HOW we got into this problem"

Watch the video then come back. Everything people say here is the common anecdotal belief (too much fat, not enough activity).

It's not just a "belief"

My family is living proof that you could indulge without getting fat.

I don't want to keep replying the same thing, but this isn't a conspiracy. It's a very logical argument and how we got into this mess and why we can't get out in the short run.

As for the relatives, we talk every few days. Things are not stable, but everyone is OK.

I always like the saying that if two people agree 100% then one of them isn't necessary. If you agree 100% with this video, then your opinion on it isn't necessary. You need to take what you've learned from this video and watch others. Read more about the topics they discuss. Do not take their word with any more than a grain of salt. Formulate you're own opinion and do your own research. Look at the science of it before being sold on the agenda they are pushing.

I'll agree that we can't get out of in the short term. We have to undo years of being taught we should get everything for nothing, that we don't have to work in order to achieve, and that someone always knows better than us what is good for us and our families. My family has been doing it for a little over a year now, and it has been a hard road to change our lifestyle and our diet to suit what we need as far as health and finances. But we're doing it. It is a combination of many factors.

Well said buddy. Live and learn.

Luckily, there a still a lot of us left who were taught all of this in school. 3 square meals a day, the 4 food groups, physical and health education.

Blaming 1 thing (sugar in this case) is just irresponsible.

It's like blaming guns for violence.

So is mine and many other families I know.

Again, this is anecdotal evidence most people believe (including myself).

Watch the video.

Me too.....and at my age it takes a lot more work to allow me to eat it.

I have no problem spending an extra 10 or 15 minutes in the gym if it gets me a nice big greasy burger. laugh out loud

I tried watching the video but it's 90 minutes long. I would have given them the chance to state their argument but not at the expense of an hour and a half of my time.

I stated my argument in just 1 post and it's more believable then the sugar conspiracy.
