There are many theories on the causes of obesity. Some say too much fat, too many calories. Ironically, many of the modern diets have generally failed to fix the problem.
The above video is long. For people who will reply with tl;dr here is the synopsis:
Watch it if you get a chance. I really enjoyed it and found it both eye opening and informative, without needing some shock factor or sex to sell it. It follows a simple premise and makes a lot of sense.

In my experience, most people will at least read the article/watch the video before bickering about it. Even in the lounge.
So I guess now no one's even bothering to do that now, huh? Another step to the bottom of the hill!
I would also like to point out that you could get fat without sugar. That body will store fat on it's own without a consistant meal schedule...but I'll leave that one alone..
He touches a lot on those points and the (general) dietary changes the USA has gone through in the last 40 years. He explains why sugar is the biggest part of the problem and who made it become the problem (also why the gov won't fix it).
For people who eat in moderation, eat lots of fiber, etc, this doesn't apply to. It mainly applies to people who are obese with lower calorie diets (yes they exist) and obese kids and why exercise alone can't fix the problem for these people.

Opinions are like asshole, everyone has one and they all stink.
Most people don't agree with the opinions the OP listed in the cliffsnotes in the OP -- which should be representative of the video. If the video was 5mins, i'd watch it on my phone. 90minutes is a long time to devote to one persons opinion in a video. If it was a long article, i'd bet at least 1/4 people in this thread would read it.

If you have evidence to support this, I'd like to see it (I'm serious, I would really like to see it, I'm not being cynical). I take things with a grain of salt, that being said, I don't accuse people w/o evidence to support it. I don't support his evidence to tax sugar, I support his evidence to stop subsidizing sugar.
I can't teach you about the way the gov't works!

I actually started the video but ended it once I saw that it was 90 minutes. There was no way I could commit the time required.
And dodgeball maybe be like your real life, but it is certainly nothing like mine.
We didn't wear helmets when riding our bikes. We didn't even wear them when competing in a furthest jump contest. When we scraped our knees and elbows our moms would make us wash it and put a band-aid on the wound before going outside to finish what we started. We did a lot of things that these pansy-assed kids today don't get to do.

It's long for you, I GET IT!
You have your preconceived notions and I can't change that.
You do not need to watch a video to comment on a definitive statement.

Dodgeball is the ultimate 'survival of the fittest' exercise. Kids should want to play this game and want to improve each time they do play it. This game is "real life"
