OMG!!! Can I come visit you and do that!!! I would loooooooooooooooooooove to do that jump!!! And yesh, so far I've been able to see all your pics Smilie

I adore heights and can't wait to go sky diving...and jumping from the scissor lift looks amazing!!
It's fun (once you get past the "that's a long way down" moment)--the bag is built in stages, so the top layer blows out immediately, then the next layer is firmer, and it's almost disappointing when you land and think, "hey that barely felt like anything at all."

But you have to land right--on your back, with your arms and legs spread out like a starfish. If you hit feet-first or head-first, you'll be meeting the pavement all too intimately despite the best efforts of bag. Land face-first, and the bag will try to fold you up backwards, which is less comfortable, especially if you're not much of a contortionist.

We don't do it too often--so you'd have to be close at the right time (mostly it depends on when there's time and enough interest to set it all up).

Quote from The Llama :
Anyone else find it a tad weird that no one even thinks to ask him questions anymore, like "why do you have a scissor lift and a big bag to jump into?" It's all just taken in stride.
But, but, if I didn't have the bag, jumping off the lift would hurt. Really hurt.

body double / stunt man ??
Nah, not me. There's an old saying, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall." I can tell you from personal experience that this is very true, and it's a good reason why stuntpeople tend to be small and compact. I train with stuntpeople, and on a limited budget film, being able to do my own stunts is a definite plus. Doubling someone costs money and complicates shooting and editing.

And, well, I figure I'm better at looking like me than just about anyone.

Except for one upcoming scene where I'm supposed to be thrown from a horse. *That* one I'm not doing myself and they'll have to double me. So I guess that's another thing that scares me. I don't feel confident that I can do that one safely.

Quote from Frogstar :
I believe he's been in some low budget/indie movies.
In various stages of development, editing, etc., which gets frustrating sometimes. The world of indie filmmaking is not known for being organized or predictable. I was at the wrap party for a different movie this evening and told the director of this one ( Gathering of Heroes [youtube.com] ) that if he doesn't finalize it in the next few weeks I'm going to go over to the studio and sit on him until he does. We'll see. Not big-budget, high-profile stuff by any means, but I had a lot of fun doing it and I'd like to see it get out.

(That's me doing the voiceover, in case you're curious.)

It's certainly never boring, but not something to get into if you're attached to having a regular sleeping schedule. (And if GoH and a few others that are in perpetual hover mode will just get finished and out there, I'll be even happier.)

I learned something just now that I wish I could unlearn. Has anyone here ever heard of Bronys?
That's a new one for me, but my brother recently sent me links to some shows he likes that had the live actors replaced with edited "My Little Ponies." Since then I've run into movie trailers and music videos (search youtube for PMV "Pony Music Video" if you have a hankering for more) that had the same treatment. Not really my thing, but I'm impressed with the amount of work that's gone into some of them.

I don't think I'll ask my brother if he's a "Brony," though. But if it's ever something he wants to talk about, I'll be there for him.

...then I got over it.
I'll have to check out the trailer when I get home.

It's a little chilly in here today. I can see the steam rising from my coffee.

Normally it cools down enough by the time I get to my desk that I can't.
And it has nothing to do with quality, only temperature Harhar
Bad coffee can be just as hot.

Yahoo!

So what you're saying is that it's not chilly because it didn't cool down as quickly? Confused

Iagree The proper temperature for brewing coffee is between 195 and 198 degrees.

No, I think it cooled down at the same rate as normal, but it's cooler so the steam is still visible.

Which is much too hot to drink, unless you're Crazy
