going down an incline or down stairs is reeeally hard on your knees. that's why you felt it when you were going down the hiking trail (and probably why your knees hurt when you went down the stairs at work - never do that again!).

for now, i take smaller steps and try not to land too hard on my heels when i walk in heels. it's easier on my knees, and keeps them from hurting so much. it also minimizes the cluck-cluck-cluck of walking in heels - i hate making so much noise when i walk so that's an added bonus. when i'm jogging, i slow down/walk when it's a decline, otherwise my knees tend to hurt the next day. i also started trying out barefoot running [wikipedia.org] - it's alleviated a lot of pain on my joints i think, but it works out my calves a lot. (i don't run barefoot - i use minimalist shoes)
I guess when I walk, I land kind of hard. Definitely when going down those stairs. I don't like noise when walking in heels either, but I guess I need to practice that.

I definitely don't run when I can help it because it makes my knees hurt and I suck at it.

I thought about taking stuff to help the cartilage in my knees (glucosamine), but hesitant about that. I guess it's a lifestyle change I've gotta make. Thanks!

G-luck and let me know if you want names of any of my other online vendors.

She just figured out that she can't do it the week before the wedding? :faint :
I do all kinds of crafty stuff so maybe I can offer some ideas. You could wire 'N' & 'C' separately and dangle them from the bows like charms. Also, I've been starting to work with flat-back rhinestones. They come in a lot of sizes- at about ss16-25 they would be small enough to eek out a nicely shaped logo. Cut out your logo shape on cardstock of the same blue shade that your rhinestones will be, glue the stones on and voila. Michael's carries ones like this [michaels.com] . Depending on how many you're going to do, you could buy cheaper/non-swarovski through your local craft store OR I've been using DreamtimeCreations. They have a wealth of options including 1-day & 2-day shipping. These dull-blue [dreamtimecreations.com] ones look about right for your purpose, their crystal glue is incredible (these are hot-fix, but I wouldn't depend on that). 1440 stones/10gross should cover any major project. Good luck!
Don't feel guilty for buying yourself nice things. hug Everyone feels better, when they look good. I need to start buying myself more clothes & shoes too, so I know how you feel. We shouldn't feel that way though. I've decided it's okay to spend more on myself. I buy plenty of beauty items, but cheap out on clothes & shoes for some reason. Dontknow

Thanks so much for the logo suggestions. The ribbon arrived about an hour ago, so I can start making the bows. I'm going to send my DH to Michael's this evening to look for those bead. This wedding has been a strange experience to say the least. My sister, the groom's mom, had to pay for the reception decorations & food. The bride's family now says they're making flower arrangements to put on the church pews. She says they're making cones out of paper & putting 3 roses in them. There's 21 pews. They ordered 48 roses & that's supposed to make the bride's & maid of honor's bouquets also. Confused One of my other sisters rented an arch & bought flowers & tulle for it. That will go on the stage. The only decorations the bride's family plan to decorate with are those paper cones. laugh out loud We won't be shocked, if they decide they don't want to make those either. I'm making more bows to fill in for those, just in case. If they show up with the cones, great (I guess Stick Out Tongue). I had to make the other bows anyway, so it doesn't matter if they use the extras or not. We've learned it's better to have a backup plan. At the last wedding, my sisters & I were talking about how happy we were that we only had one more girl to plan a wedding for. Two of my sisters don't find this situation very funny. I think it's hilarious. I think they got upset with me, because the irony in the situation amuses me. LMAO

Another suggestion - less sparkly but could still look polished.
Materials:
- inkjet printer
- white cardstock (Off-white will distort the color), preferably with a sheen to it- ink will sit on the top and pick up more powder. Do not use construction paper.
- clear embossing powder (you could try clear with glitter, but IME, it just looks dirty), $3-4
- heat tool, ~$12

1) predetermine the size of logo needed for your job.
2) Setting your printer to it's highest ink setting, print the logo out.
2) As the image exits the printer, drop embossing powder on the image. <--most important part, if ink is totally dry- powder won't stick!
3) Shake off excess, then use heating tool to melt the powder, revealing your image, now raised and glossy
4) cut logo out and adhere to bows
All materials can be found at Michael's or JoAnn's. I did this for our wedding invitations- results were amazing.

This is the only YouTube video I could find on it. [youtube.com]
How hard was this? I'm limited for time, but it does look nice.

I'm actually starting to think I have knee problems as well. I went hiking this one time and going down absolutely killed my knees. It felt like someone jabbed knives in my knees and they were bleeding! I've kept hiking since then, but they don't hurt that bad, just a little, or none at all.

I guess my parents kept telling me these problems happened when I would go to school with shorts in the freezing cold morning. I did so because it got super hot later in the day. I've noticed my knees hurt when I'm out in shorts when it's super cold, so I've stop that now.

Have you been able to do anything to manage the knees? I can't give up heels!!!!!! :sadwalk :
You should have your knees checked out, if you think you have problems. Mine have gotten to the point that the right knee needs replacement surgery now. My doctor says the left knee isn't far behind. I'm holding out as long as possible for both of them. I can only stand still for about 30 min., until my right knee begins to swell. That's on days, when the weather is nice. When the weather is bad, it swells sitting with my feet up. At times, I have to wear sweats with wide legs to be able to get them over my knee. Jeans & regular sweats are too tight. Stairs are really hard on them. I take the steps one at a time, then put the weight all on my left knee. When my knees are swollen, stairs are out. Even if they aren't already swollen, stairs often cause them to swell. Anyway, all this rambling is to say, you really need to take care of your knees. Trust me. The same goes for anni.

I hope everything comes together nicely for the wedding!

Sorry to hear about your knees, I know you had mentioned some various issues, but didn't realize your knees were affecting you so much. I'm going to definitely take care of my knees and will get them checked out if it gets worse. I can't imagine swollen knees! hug

ditto for Sally's. sometimes they have promotions of buy 1 get 1 half off or 50% off. I bought one a few months ago for $4.99, something like that.

Ulta should have some although mine has only a small selection.

Thanks, I'll give the incredible a try.

I have the Incredible demi and there isn't any padding really, just that wire has a slight "gel" padding around it that might give you a little lift, but definitely nothing compared to the Miraculous which increases 2 cup sizes. Not sure about the Incredible pushup though.
Thanks.

OMG Only 48 roses for 21 decorations and for the bouquets? I put more than 48 in just my bouquet when I did my wedding flowers. Are they very expensive or very big roses or something like that? I only paid about $1.50 a stem for huge garden roses using gammaflowers, so if it is money that is making them a little stingy on the flowers, they could consider getting some roses online, it'd only be about $100 of 100 stems. Also, if the wedding date is too close to order online, Costco sells roses for cheap too but with less selection than you'd find online. Unless of course, she is going for the minimalist look, which can be pretty cute if done right. nod

You know, I've never noticed about my knees hurting, but I went down 9 flight of stairs in 4 inch pumps because I didn't want to wait for the elevator and I guess I put too much pressure on them going down and my knees were killing me for 1 day! . . .

Too bad nothing like Nordstrom's rack is around me! But one of these days, I will make it to the one in Brea or regular Nordies just to try them on! Big Grin!
We've got all these little tendons that stabilize our knees, and don't get a lot of action on a regular basis. My friend overdid it on her knee and needed a cadaver patellar tendon EEK! . If I can't avoid putting the strain on them, I always stretch them afterwards - it's just a quad stretch (pull your calf to your bum), but change the angle of your foot gently and you can feel the little guys in your knee being stretched. I'm also affected greatly by cold weather/pressure changes - I was always told they were "growing pains" Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) . If it's bad, I take an Ibuprofen to quell the inflammation that's likely to be causing the pain.

Lady, what are you talking about? There's a Nordies Rack across the street from the mall we met at last time! Girly

Steve's my dude! Actually I just realized I only buy Madden Girl pumps b/c so many of them are 3.25" or less.
