I throw a lot of gwp makeup bags out too. I used to save them, but they take up so much space.
oh well. I know there are some places that would gladly take that stuff. I think women's shelters for example.

It's a site that gives free 2 day shipping on select sites with a paid membership. A lot of us got them free a few months ago on some hd. It's kind of like prime but for more sites.

Sorry about the boy bias in your family. My mom was told she should go to college to find her a husband.
Anyway you two would consider living together before the wedding? DH and I bought our condo while we were engaged. When living together, we set up a joint account at ING ( we also have separate accounts there that we can fund the joint account with). I showed DH how much money I had saved up which dwarfed his. I was a freaking grad student and the 20% down all came from ME. Crazy! ha. I think that changed his perspective too. Live together, create a shared bank account you pay the rent with... maybe opens to door to more finance talk and looking at each others' numbers.
it's hard to not be defensive bc it is totally a touchy subject. dbf and i are working to consolidate our finances now, and while we are more or less on the same page, he has a lot more saved up bc he makes more and has been working for twice as long as me. for some reason i'm still scared when he peeks over at my banking. i've saved a considerable amount now, but it's nowhere near his. so i'm embarrassed by it.
