Why do you have to switch workplaces to get higher raises?

It seems so stupid. My current job wants to give me a 2% raise.... on 51k because I'm an "admin" - while others who get paid more then me and have the whole summer off get 3%
Friends are telling me the only way to get more is to switch workplaces. Problem is I really like the job, they just need to pay me!!

Yeah. Scoundrel rocks.
If you're not a certified teacher and not covered under a collective bargaining agreement, well things are a bit harder to judge then. I'd still say you're underpaid, but the districts have way more leeway to decide your salary. You may want to look, but of course you know how hard any public schools jobs are to get in this area.
And I hear you about the houses. Stupid yuppies blew prices out of the water all around the NYC area during the 90s and 00s and prices have dropped minimally over the past few years in the decent towns. 50K (or even 100K) doesn't go very far in areas where starter homes go for 500K and taxes average 10K per year or more.
Hope things work out for you.
That dude is a farking dork!
My boss is cool and understands how I feel. It's the 1% board members who go home to their 10 million dollar homes who have never EVER been in my situation who need to understand it.
You are jealous of those that went to college, got a degree that mattered, and then worked their asses off to make it to the top.

I live where the 1% inherit their millions (and the rest cheat people, break laws and get wrapped in fraud) and even though they are total idiots, thanks to wealth managers they don't go bankrupt (well some of them do).
I am very close with someone who knew the Madoff thing was a scam but continued to work closely with the guy and now sits on his millions and millions.
Also - since when is a computer science degree and then a masters in technology something that "didn't matter"

I really think ( and you will get defensive about this aswell). That you manifest bitterness and resentment in everything you do. Everyone around you in your life can see it in your posture, the way you respond and every other aspect. Yes you do what your boss tells you but you cant hide that your doing it unwillingly even if you dont dispute things.
The grass isnt greener on the other side of the fence. You should have grown out of this teen angst phase where everyone is conspiring against you. You will become an angry bitter old man (like MLV). You need to find something other than money to be your happiness and peace.

Take it to the podium there, big guy. They enjoy posting accusations without evidence.

Still whining about the 1%. Pull your panties up and apply yourself. No one owes you anything. Anything. You get out of life what you put into it. If all you ever do is whine about how others didn't earn what they have makes you sound like one of 51%... those that don't pay ANY taxes and think they are owed something.
