Is there some shortage of kids waiting to be adopted or something? Scratchhead
I was under the impression it was the opposite.
I must be wrong, because there seem to be lots of people in this thread that know of well-to-do folks just waiting to snatch up a poor kid the second it's on the market.

The same way that every other single parent with a job and a kid does I guess. Dontknow
Badly?

Is there something special about this one that makes her more special and entitled to a free ride? If she isn't able to provide an adequate life for her child maybe adoption would be a better option for all.
A cheap, steerage class ride to keep her and her kids avoid starving to death and to help her eventually become employed, yes. BTW really poor nutrition in childhood can knock 5 IQ points off kids, which is enough to significantly worsen their odds for unemployment, low income, and high crime. Some of you fanatical anti-welfare people make your arguments absurd because you ignore scale and don't differentiate between governments that hand out a pittance and those that guarantee deadbeats a middle class existence for life.

But a solution can't just be logical; it has to be practical as well. We should look at how almost all other developed nations have achieved lower rates of unplanned pregnancies and teen pregnancies than the US, and maybe we should implement public policies similar to theirs.

Why don't we ever ask "Why did she have the kid if she couldn't support herself?"
Because of a segment of the population doesn't want her to have birth control or be able to get an abortion. Though they don't seem to have problems spending money telling her not to have sex. However if she does given in, they want to make her life a living hell for the rest of her life....

Actually it's sad, I know of one couple who adopted a baby from Russia and my wife's sister is thinking about going overseas to adopt.

I asked them both why didn't they adopt locally and they answered that with foreign children the adoption is final and they don't have to worry about the parents changing their mind and filing lawsuits against them to get the kids back. I was shocked because I have always been under the impression that adoptions were final.

The new official information is...
10 point lower IQs from malnutrition seems to be highly unlikely in the US. The information I've seen indicates 5-6 points is typical.

What kind of fighting does your boyfriend do?

I think everyone should just be required to give their entire paycheck to the government and they could distribute the money to everyone equally so nobody has to struggle.

Nothing to not feel like when you have an IUD in place. Big Grin

Yeah..its some kinda hormone\cervix plug.

Prolifers should pay it! They'd be winning since there wouldnt be any choice in the matter and less babies getting slopped, chopped, and vacuum tubed out. bounce
Otherwise it would come out of the same budget that pays for free birth control @ places like planned parenthood. 1 month of the posted California welfare money would easily pay for a device that is reported to last 5 yrs. My wife's IUD was in the 500-700 range w/ installation. Insurance covered it - the deductible.

The customers will pay for the UDF. Smilie
Prolifers hate IUDs. IUDs are a tiny coil that go in the uterus. It used to be thought that the IUD prevented fertilized eggs from implanting on the uterine wall, thus to Prolifers turning the uterus into some kind of constant abortion water slide. Actual evidence suggests that having the device in place causes scar tissue that prevents the sperm from ever getting to the egg. The more popular model uses hormones too.

Implanon is an awesome birth control- no memory required.

Criminals seems to be a stretch but kids growing up in poverty are certainly hard pressed to learn healthy financial skills, and thus generational poverty. I don't think kids growing up in the system are really learning how to open a savings account I balance a checkbook either.

I have 6 cousins that were all adopted from Russia. I didn't get it much either, but they are never going to come after them, there isn't going to be any "My other mother lets me drink/smoke and you don't, I hate you!" or other crap that comes with joint visitation...

Plus, it might just be a stereotype (in fact, I am SURE it is...but with all stereotypes is a truth) but I equate most adopted kids from the states as being from a mother that did not take care of them in the 9 months she was with them and you have to deal with the consequences.

My choice would be to tie her tubes after kid #2 (yea, I'll even allow her to screw up twice).

Her choice is to get money from me because she can...Also, Her choice is to have sex, resulting in kid #1 and kid #2.
