Never - ever take a car to one of these shops. They dont even take off emblems. Sanding not included WTF how the hell will paint stick on to that.

True story: My friend took his car to one of these places, he thought he was slick so he did all the body work, sanded and primered. He took the car there I guess a bird liked his car on their lot and..... they painted over bird sh*t LOL I was laughing so much i puked. hehehe!

I agree, unless you're going for that overspray-orangepeel-fisheye look. A guy I work with had his car painted there and it looked bad from far away.

I have to say that my friend had a paint job done from them and it was a really good job, that was four years ago and it still is great looking. He did buy a higher up package where they did the sanding and stuff , but it was still half the price of the other company that charges 1k or more to do a basic good paint job. Also you will have to do the sanding job yourself to get the really cheap price. But you just have to rough up the paint a little bit with sandpaper to get the new paint to stick good.Not sand it down to the metal!!

Maaco's are independantly owned. The quality you get varies greatly from store to store. There is one near me that I would recomend. the people have worked there for a long time and have a good reputation.
I wouldnt get the ambassador unless you plan on selling the car the day after you get it painted, but the supreme or signature look pretty good.
The one near me uses 2k primer and dupont paints.
Hard to believe anyone would paint over bird droppings and expect the customer to pay for the paint job.

Ive sprayed out about ten new houses so i understand being clean and properly appling coatings. $199 barely pays for the paint lol must be some real garbage arcrilic. Spraying a base coat isnt that tough it drys easy and fast just make sure the item is up to temperature so you dont get runs. The clear is little tougher and would be best in a spray booth but still can be done in a clean waterdown garage. Why dont they charge $500 and do it right and quick?Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I heard nothing but bad things about this place, i went to detailing classes and i heard stories that they don't even do the inside of the doors when you open the door.shake head . If you got a crappy car with a crap paint job, maybe it will be a little better to get it done here, but it will last probably only a month. Big Grin

maaco does things cheap but they suck. they replaced my fender, colors were slightly off. you can't notice it unless you look really hard though..so that is good. and they didn't fix any scratches under the fender because they are idiots.

If you've done paint and bodywork yourself and know how to properly prep a car yourself, and then bring it over to them and do a last second cleaning yourself before the spray, it will look great, and is well worth the money. I've done this several times, but then I know what I'm doing and am just in a situation right now where I can't have my own air compressor setup at home. If you don't know what you are doing, pay more money to have them do proper prep. Paintwork is 99.9% prep. Any monkey can spray.
