Sounds like this is the "pulling strings" part. I'd just ignore him and try to forget about it.

I am struggling because i have spent the last few months studying the teachings of buddha, and part of it is to forgive people and not hold a grudge, to love anyone and everyone unconditionally and I am willing to do that with this person. I am not going to be angry or seek revenge. but i just am struggling with how does one respect and take care of themselves in situations like this… it just seems oxymoronic

Yeah, no need for revenge and if you want to forgive him and be at peace, that's fine too. But that doesn't mean that you need to have contact with the person anymore. think of it as making a decision for an easier path to peace. Forgive, move on, and find better people to speak with.

You can love (theoretically as a human being, mind you!) and forgive him, not seek to cause harm- but that doesn't mean you have to spend time with him on a regular basis.

I just couldn't believe today's Braves/Nationals game was scheduled for 8 pm. Usually Sunday games are 1 pm or 4 pm afternoon games, damn it.

FYI....there is such a thing as healthy anger. Again, always forgive, but that doesn't mean that you have to communicate with the guy any more. I was molested by a church leader as a child, fired from a job for false accusations by someone who wanted my job, and had to bury my son because my wife's doctor was late for a golf game and didn't want to be bothered any more. Forgiveness is hard, but you can learn from it. Memorize the asshole's personality and don't let anyone else like that in your life because you know where it's gonna go. hug
