Definitely the first.

It was like if you took jello and let it get super coagulated. The second was lotus paste.

The jelly kind looked similar to this:

Oh ok, those, let me make sure though, were these the kind you put in the fridge/freezer? Or were they fine at room temp?

Either way, those are like hybrid versions of mooncake, to draw in marketing by introducing different types and forms. If you ever get the chance try the ones that look like what I posted in the pic, those are the ones we eat.

Although they can get pricey too... cheapest is like $15 for a box of 4, and those are the cheaper ones. They can get expensive depending on the types of paste used and how many yolks are in them.

They were just in a display case in a kiosk sort of thing in the middle of the mall. It was similar to a restaurant stand, I guess. But mooncakes everywhere. The only types they had out for sampling appeared to be the kinds we tried. After those, we shied away from any other types.

Well next yr. definitely try the ones I mentioned, "original" ones. They sell them individually too, around $4 per.

Whoa, buncha late Lulu's in here last night, rambling about BMI, cooking videos, durian, and mooncakes. Sorry I missed it, but I slept wonderfully, and feel truly rested this morning. I've been up since 6:30, washing and drying my hair.

I was going to do one for liquid nitrogen ice cream, but the guy who was picking up the liquid nitrogen for me, instead of using my dewars, had them fill a large banged-up metal container that leaked. (Something like an old-fashioned milk urn.) True, it *was* bigger. But it was also empty by the time he got it here, which pretty much defeats the purpose.

There's one out there, but I'm not sure you want to see it--it's probably my least attractive video appearance ever recorded. (I got a call from a friend of mine about doing the video, and he said he was heading right over so I just had time to get out of bed and gather everything together to make it happen. My voice sounds weird in it, too.)

But if you just ignore me, it's a pretty good video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU8iRYbnAb0 (That's Mark doing the voiceover on this one.)

I still have the knots of the napkins. (Yes, that's are all that was left at the end.)

I like how the table was set all nice and pretty before it was destroyed. Smilie

I haven't ever been near a durian. I suppose I'd either LOVE it or HATE it, based on everything I've read about it. Never had a moon cake, either. Plenty of Moon Pies, though:

Just past my shoulders.

Hi thread.

I don't have diabetes and all the testing came back fine except I have a fatty liver. I don't do drugs or drink a lot so the doctor referred me to a GI doctor to make sure everything is okay.

I have mild PCOS but he wants me to go to the GI doctor before he puts me on meds.

Also, I have to lose weight!
