Trygve did you see 60 minutes tonight? It was about the medical marijuana industry in Colorado, specifically Denver.
Nope, mostly I've been sitting here trying to get the hang of a DaVinci Resolve color correction system. Kinda slow going and probably much less interesting.

(But, still, "just look at all the pretty colors!")

Colors it's got...the tricky part is figuring out what to do with them all.

It certainly looks like you can do a lot, but the learning curve has a few bumps in it.

Right now I'm just working on a freshly telecined trailer, which is some combination of the best and the worst way to get started.

I should, but I probably won't. It is fun, though. (Even the introductory manual isn't bad...but it is 640 pages long and I have lots more to go through.)

But my eyes are getting a little tired already, so I have to wander off occasionally and look at things in the real world. (I guess that's one way of making sure that the birds get fed and the plants get watered.)

I have to do that with audio work, too. Every few hours at least I need to wander off somewhere quiet for a while to 'reset' my ears.

Finches, more finches, some other finches. I've got a group of four mountain bluebirds that seem to have moved in a few months ago and are always around, plus lots of house finches, mountain chickadees, and rock doves. The goldfinches seem to like the sunflowers the best (I have *lots* of sunflowers) and then I get other birds like redwing blackbirds, hawks and kestrels, and owls hanging around. Lately it's been robins nesting in the courtyard, and they're usually around somewhere the rest of the time.

Once in a while, I've seen golden eagles (those are big) and turkey vultures around here, but not very often.

They're all good except for the magpies; those showed up a few years ago and I try to chase them off when I can. I don't know how to spell "go away" in magpie, though, so I haven't been able to come up with any suitable magpie-away signs.

I get a lot of turkey vultures around here.

I saw a heron in my yard a couple of weeks ago- haven't seen one in a couple of years. LW spotted him and I had to put her on the deck safely away so she didn't run down to the water and startle him.

Probably just the usual: ferns, Norfolk pine, ficus, assorted cacti and succulents.

The stapelia keep blooming earlier and earlier; they're very impressive blooms (10" star-shaped flowers), but they smell like spoiled meat, so I keep trimming them off. They used to bloom around January or February and it wasn't as noticeable when the weather was cold, but when it's warm, you pretty much can't help but notice. (" Stapelia blooming again?" That could be the start of an interesting TV commercial, I suppose.)

There are a bunch of larger plants in the kitchen and a ficus in the entryway, but the problem is that the sun room gets *too* much sun (it's all glass on the south and west sides), so on my to-do list is to add a glassed-in room on the north side of the house where I won't have to be quite so careful about positioning anything that isn't a cactus.

I suppose I always figured most people had at least a few plants around, but it recently occurred to me that my mother's house is completely live-plant-free. She has fake plants (and I do too in places like the back staircase that don't get any direct light, but look like they need *something*), but not a single real plant in the house. But maybe that's common; I'd never thought about it before.
