but yeah there HAD to be at least one thing in there that they liked.. there was literally so much stuff in the box they couldn't have hated everything… i mean how can you not find a use for an Adobe brand MicroFlece blanket?!?Confused
That's another thing that sucks about gift exchanges.. You obviously put a lot of effort and money into it.. then the reciepent doesn't give you any kind of positive acknowledgement (I would guess).

Family gift exchanges are disappointing/not fullfilling enough. I don't need to disapoint strangers too.. laugh out loud

Exactly. I'm at the age where I buy myself what I want, and I really don't need any clutter. Me and my sister buy each other pricy supplements and vegan treats- stuff we can consume and we know the other will like- and we may not buy for ourselves.

Excellent point on the clutter.
Most of us (at least at our age), have roughly 20 years worth of "gifts" that just take up space and are seldom or never used.. Hard to get rid of them if a family member gave them.. they might notice it gone.. Why invite more clutter (gift exchanges)..

Oh the worst are the forced gift exchanges at work.. We had one last year.. It was a $5 limit, "white elephant".. So basically, everything sucks or is unwanted.. No one leaves happy.. great idea laugh out loud I bought a Xmas ornament for the tree.. thinkinng.. surely, at least someone can throw that on their tree.. The dude that opened it was like "WTF is this" LMAO But after I bought it, I thought.. What if one of the muslim/hindu people open that gift.. they prob don't even have Xmas trees..

no the worst is when its from a 10y/o younger relative and you are expected to display their home made piece of artwork I truly appreciate the thought but its such a waste of money

shes' a pound puppie -- some sort of hound dog. BOY does she have a good sniffer laugh out loud I posted a pic somewhere in here if you want to look at the thread attachments. Shes a love bug and learns fast. Being with her distracts me and helps with the lonelies. I'm still in shock whenever I think of LW.

speaking of shopping for present, my company owns a large stake in another company. the other company just officially purchased their own building so we were trying to get them an office warming present and my god does everyone hate everything… the point of the gift was to give them something all of the employees could use and appreciate, not a gift for just the owner. I ended up going with a Kuerig machine but people were going on about how expensive it is to buy k-cups… i ended up saying look its a nice farking gift and if people end up buying their own preference of beverage and keeping it in their drawer so they can use the machine so be it but its a much better gift than a dishwasher or paying for the company sign… the only other decent idea was to cater a lunch
