Dog chew toys that don't get them in trouble: Add your dog's favorites! (Thanks, daisee)

1. Fun stuff
- We leave empty cardboard boxes for the dogs to chew up. Also these loofah bones (cleans their teeth while they rip them apart) and TONS of cat toys (with catnip). (from veritableqndry)

2. Hard-to-destroy stuff

-At dollar tree they carry "milkbone" toys... she beats the hell out of them and still they hold up. (not to mention their only a buck if they destroy them) (from wakethewicked2)

- I've had good luck with these -- the avatar dog has destroyed everything but this kind. They come in different sizes and shapes and you can put treats inside for them to dig out: http://www.petmountain.com/produc...-kong.html . I get mine at a local farm store, but I'm sure you could get them at places like Pets Mart if you don't want to buy online. (from callpocket)

- Here are a couple that have survived Sophie so far:
  • Busy Buddy bouncy bone - We gave up on the rawhide inserts. She rips those out in seconds but likes the toy without them anyhow and cannot kill it.)
  • Everlasting treat ball -Again she pulls out the expensive inserts right off the bat...but she likes bouncing the toy. You can also hide dog kibble in the middle for the dog to try to get out, which entertains him for awhile. She hasn't managed to rip this one at all yet even though it feels soft and flexible.
  • Jolly Ball: - Ours is bigger than the one at this link. It's hysterical to see her stick her snout in the hole and wave the ball in the air. It's bigger than her head. She runs around the house with it on her snout, growling and acting like a maniac. I don't know why she can't chew it up, but she can't.
  • Then there are big Nylabones, which she can kill eventually. But they take a long time to die. (from olu)

Tails has been trying to eat a dead baby bunny that decided to die right outside in the grass from our apt door. DH told me today that the Basset below us ate it instead. whew.

Wife and I were working in the yard earlier when we see Oscar emerge from the woods... with a baby bunny. Luckily he does drop something when I tell him to. I think the critter will live. I found the bunny burrow and moved Oscar's electric fence just a few feet so he can't get to them. Surprise Oscar! Your unmarked electric fence has moved! (I know that sounds mean, but he's a real quick learner)

Glad you could save the bunnies! Moving the fence sounds a lot nicer than leaving giant Oscar out there waiting to snag another bunny.
Sophie the bird killer is very disappointed that the robins who built a nest right above her favorite lounging spot out back came to their senses and built a second unit on the other side of the fence, where they seem to be settling in. We're glad: We'd been trying to figure out how to build a temporarly fence to keep her out of this section of the patio till the robins grew up and flew away. Now she sits and stares at the happenings on the other side of the fence and looks tragic. Tough world.

Took Tails out to a friends house who lives in the country. He rolled and rolled and rolled until he was super stinky. Then he ate things hidden in the grass.. who knows what it was, poop? Then he munched on some ruberb and I yelled at him.... he was very sad, but I didn't want our friends to get too mad at him.

Poor Tails. FrownSophie gets in trouble when we go visiting too.

But last night worked out well for her. She got leftover birthday cake sprinkled on her dinner Smilie

Yum!

Last night DH and I had an ice cream craving, so we headed to the local DQ drive through. Tails was unruley and wouldn't stop crying. We got home, I handed DH a frosty paws, DH put it in the bag with our ice cream. We sat on the couch and pulled out all of the goodies from the bag. Started in our ice cream, Tails started to beg, so we handed him his frosty paws. Kept him busy for as long as it took us to eat our goodies.

About a month ago my Dorkie Yorkie tore the squeaker out of one of his toys and swallowed it. He is ok.

Oh, he got one of those bunnies and killed it. He didn't get to the hole... but a bunny must have been out adventuring over the line.

The lab found an extremely rotten deer leg. He is walking around so proud I cannot take it from him. I somehow need to divide it in two though - the other one is getting pissed.

What is with dogs and cheese wrappers? All the dogs I've ever owned manage to get ahold of them from the garbage...

Ah, that's sad. Well, you did your best! The bunnies have to watch their own backs too.
