Dog chew toys that don't get them in trouble: Add your dog's favorites! (Thanks, daisee)

1. Fun stuff
- We leave empty cardboard boxes for the dogs to chew up. Also these loofah bones (cleans their teeth while they rip them apart) and TONS of cat toys (with catnip). (from veritableqndry)

2. Hard-to-destroy stuff

-At dollar tree they carry "milkbone" toys... she beats the hell out of them and still they hold up. (not to mention their only a buck if they destroy them) (from wakethewicked2)

- I've had good luck with these -- the avatar dog has destroyed everything but this kind. They come in different sizes and shapes and you can put treats inside for them to dig out: http://www.petmountain.com/produc...-kong.html . I get mine at a local farm store, but I'm sure you could get them at places like Pets Mart if you don't want to buy online. (from callpocket)

- Here are a couple that have survived Sophie so far:
  • Busy Buddy bouncy bone - We gave up on the rawhide inserts. She rips those out in seconds but likes the toy without them anyhow and cannot kill it.)
  • Everlasting treat ball -Again she pulls out the expensive inserts right off the bat...but she likes bouncing the toy. You can also hide dog kibble in the middle for the dog to try to get out, which entertains him for awhile. She hasn't managed to rip this one at all yet even though it feels soft and flexible.
  • Jolly Ball: - Ours is bigger than the one at this link. It's hysterical to see her stick her snout in the hole and wave the ball in the air. It's bigger than her head. She runs around the house with it on her snout, growling and acting like a maniac. I don't know why she can't chew it up, but she can't.
  • Then there are big Nylabones, which she can kill eventually. But they take a long time to die. (from olu)

First slip-up as a good 2-year-old: Helped herself to a bowl of unshelled nuts on a low shelf. Caught her cracking them open with her teeth. Bad dog,but it was kind of cute Smilie
Yea... Oscar is usually good about stuff on our coffee table. But we left a bowl of humus out while we were in the other room. He had some of that.

Oh and I found this pic of him as a pup. It also satisfies all you foot fetish freaks since PG is on break.

The neighbors think so too!

Turns out that he's been running through the woods, down through the pond (or possibly across the beaver dam? who knows!) and across the road to the (scary, not nice) neighbor's house!! Here I was thinking that when he went barreling into the woods he was SAFE and not going near the road... boy was I wrong.

One of the kids that lives there told me today that he comes over "every day" to play with him and his puppy. Grr....

BAD OSCAR!
(I'm actually terrified to let him out now and only did once Mr. Drio got home)

Awww...What a cutie. And would you look at that foot. (Hope that covers the requisite SD foot fetish comments for you. I don't have one so I'm really reaching here. Plus I bet anyone who looks too hard at that foot would have Mrs. Drio to answer to Smilie ).

I'd forgotten that Oscar was the cutest thing on the face of the earth when he was a puppy. Hope he still is now that he's a big boy who eats your hummus and sneaks off to the neighbor place Big Grin

Sophie sneaks off to play with her buddy Annie (black lab) if she slips out the door. They go to this house that used to have an automatic dog feeder. The people with the dog feeder moved, but the retrievers can't get that through their heads. They just lurk around the yard hoping for dogfood to appear till we come get them. So embarrassing.

A nice slipper that Mrs. Drio got me for Christmas. Frown

There's also a chewed substance that I have yet to identify. He had about 5 chunks of this rubbery substance in our living room. Roughly the size of marbles... but not exactly round. Brownish and almost clear... maybe resembling the thick sole of a boot, yet all our boots are intact. We're baffled.

We just got one of those invisible fence systems for Oscar. (Puppy Zapper 2000! jk) I still need to order more cable though. He'll still have about 3 acres of roaming room when I'm done.
