My MBP was ~$1,200, and I love it. It's nice pretty much being able to carry around a desktop that's capable of doing anything I throw at it in my messenger bag (Timbuk2, to be exact...). And it's just so pretty.

It's definitely a very nice laptop, looks are top notch, but I cannot keep up with the new models and processors, and it is not worthwhile for me to deal with it in monetary value as well, bc although they retain value, either way I lose money if I was to get one, due to its high price to begin with, and there is not much to be gained.

I get it's not for everyone. But I used to do a lot of web development and media production sort of stuff, and have found that the software that revolves around these categories generally tend to be better on Macs. For everything else, there's Bootcamp and Parallels.

I'm thinking about getting an SSD and sticking the OS on it, so it should be mind-blowingly fast.

Unless this is something new, you were never able to do this in the past. There's no way for B&N to get money from something bought at starbucks. It's a B&N cafe that serves starbucks coffee.
