Let's start with yesterday. I was mountain biking with a good friend from my unit. He's was a paramedic for ~17 years and currently works in an ER. When I crashed, he evaluated me and said I was probably fine since I didn't lose consciousness or start vomiting immediately. He suspected I might have a concussion. I did have a little bit of vertigo and motion-sickness yesterday, and going to bed last night the room started spinning. I knew this wasn't uncommon for concussions, so whatever.
Tonight, the vertigo got a ton worse and I was getting incredibly nauseated just FaceTiming on my phone. I called my buddy back, who said that I should probably get it looked at to be on the safe side. I finally decided that saving a few bucks wasn't worth risking something more serious occurring. I got a CT scan, and the results came back negative for fractures or anything crazy. The doctor said I had post-concussive syndrome (? pretty sure it has to be for more than a couple days for that, but okay), and that I'd feel like this for a few days. She gave me some prescriptions for nausea and vertigo, and an antibiotic so my cuts/scrapes don't get infected.
tl;dr I pussied out, went to the hospital, and just have a good concussion like I said yesterday.
