I'm finally going to have to pony up for a new washer in the near future. Some time earlier this year whatever the thing is that detects the water level started acting up, so now I have it set to "Small Load" and it fills up enough for a regular load (it was overflowing at higher settings). In the last few weeks, it's started not draining all the water out, so I have to restart the spin cycle to take care of that. Still, when you consider I got it for free nearly six years ago, I'd say I did alright.
Yeah...that's a pretty Slick Deal! Wink

Yeah, it's like my p-o-s lawn mower. All I got out of it is twenty years of decent service, and now it's suddenly wanting to fall apart. I think it's more than earned its keep.
Wow! Is it normal for lawnmowers to last that long? I've never had one, so I have no idea.

That's a good idea, too! woot

Hopefully you won't have to trample anyone to get one!

Not generally, no. We've taken pretty darned good care of this one, and it's really served us almost ten years longer than expected.

Yeah, that sounds like a huge pain though. Having to mess with the settings and restarting the spin cycle and whatnot. You could always try craigslist instead of getting a brand new one.

That's what we've done the past 10 years and it always works out very cheaply. laugh out loud

We got this set when we moved a few weeks ago:

It was in immaculate condition and both work like a dream.
CL is where I got this set, I didn't even have to drive more than a couple miles to pick it up laugh out loud
They got shiny new ones, and just wanted the old ones gone. I haven't figured out if I'm going to get NEW new or just new to me.

With a 12 months same as cash (or even 6), that might be a good plan, so I wouldn't have to divert holiday funds.

Roll

That's a good deal!

Yeah, same thing with the set I got. People are all into those super expensive, front-loading ones. I'm not jumping on that bandwagon, not when I get a perfectly nice working set for 1/10th the cost. laugh out loud

Do you do most of the laundry at your house?

You're giving her the emotional support and drama she craves, yet she's giving you nothing in return, other than the honor of being her "Friend" (which you don't want).

If it's really this bad, move on.. If it's not that bad and you enjoy the drama too, carry on...

I've heard too many concerns about front-loaders failing sooner/more often than top loaders to go that route.

My dad keeps mowers running for ages...granted he has 4 lawns to mow and probably about 5 mowers (at least) and only one working at a time laugh out loud

Oh so have I. Yet another reason I won't jump on the front-loading bandwagon. Nono2
