So I decided to look at dating like finding a job. When I'm hunting I spam out resumes on Craigslist and other places... so I started answering every W4M ad I sort of liked, and put up a 2nd one of my own.
So the date Sunday was one of my replies to an ad, and the girl was very nice, and we had a very nice lunch. And very nice did nothing for me (or, as far as I can tell, her) to prompt further contact. Which is fine! We had a nice conversation and a shared a nice meal and it was nice. The hostas outside my house are nice. If it's sunny and not too hot out it's nice. Nice doesn't fire up the old loins you know? She hasn't contact me & I haven't contacted her but I'm glad I went and I would (and will) do that again (with someone else).
The fun part is Ms. Tattoo #2, who answered MY ad (and was the only intelligent response I got by the way). We emailed and texted (wait for it) Saturday night, all day Sunday, and Sunday evening we talked on the phone... for four hours... which is the longest non-Dell-support call I've ever been on in my life (even in HS my parents would kick me off the phone after a while).
And... well just back up and read what I wrote early on about Tattoo #1 to find out what I think I'm feeling now. She's awesome/I like her a lot/I'm smitten. Yeah. This once's a Cancer (like me) so I feel a little safer. She isn't sober but doesn't appear to have a drinking issue. We were going to meet for dinner yesterday but... you guessed it, her plans changed. I understood/understand and we might be getting together tonight. But!
I keep setting myself up for this somehow and I can't figure it out. I must be doing some kind of emotional and conversational manipulation. I'm sitting in the same office IM'ing with Tattoo #2 where I was when Tattoo #1 told me "I don't want to kiss you, I don't want to sleep with you, I don't want to date you" and guess what #2 literally just said?
I don't think I'm being that pushy, but every time they say "I want to be friends" I try to be clear that I am interested in more. In fact that's almost exactly how I say it. At least #2 said "not that those things might never happen" whereas #1 pretty much flat-out told me there wasn't a prayer's chance in hell she'd ever change her mind.
Oh yeah and #2 has a small daughter (2 years old) and is tying up her 2nd divorce.
Anyway I'm trying to figure out how I've now arrived at the exact same destination twice even though I *think* I'm doing things differently.
On the plus side, between this drama and my new playlist I got closer to barfing up blood on the elliiptical yesterday than ever before!
Stay tuned for next time when VQ decides to bring his ex-wife back into the mix...

Are you drawn to drama? Is that where this excitement is coming from? and the normal lady doesnt appear to excite you because she's not farked up and doesnt have a ton of exciting baggage?

Get the fark out of the dating game! Nothing is going to happen as long as you are trying to find someone to fit you or make yourself fit someone else. Be you! Let someone be drawn to that.
