I think I'm entitled to a little bit of crazy! I was with my wife for like 15 years! It's too bad I can't dial in the level I'm prepared for... although I suspect it's like hot peppers, you either think you can handle way more than you really can, or else you don't put enough and it's kind of bland & boring.

Sounds like a good argument for polygamy. Then you can alternate hot-and-spicy with cool-and-refreshing and get the full enjoyment from both.
