Well, that's almost helpful Tongue
Was it for a Grand Cherokee, or regular? Chilton's manual is a catch-all Wrangler/Cherokee/Grand Cherokee, but the Haynes is actually specific to the model. I also found a download for a factory service manual for a 98, which may have some use to me.

I had both at one point. Mine was for the Cherokee.

My next big job is going to be figuring out what the deal is with the parking brake. Either it just really needs to be adjusted, or the cables are kaput.

Have you tried moving the shifter to the "P" position?

Any response from Yankee Candle?

Why are you on their email list anyway?

It's supposed to be in neutral for me to check the transmission fluid Wink2
I also like to put the brake on every time I park the car. It goes: stop car, put car in N, put brake on, release foot brake, once weight of car has shifted to brake, put car in P.
I'd rather put all that wear and tear on easily/cheaply replaced brake components, versus the transmission.

Nope, nothing yet.
I order candles from them every so often, I'm on the list in case they send one-time use coupons Prop

So, your parking brake doesn't engage when you're in neutral (and not in park)... And you think this is faulty behavior?

Am I confused?

ETA: And, I apparently suck dicks. Nevermind.

It should engage when I pull the lever, regardless of what gear I'm in. It's a mechanical assembly.

Yes, I just realized that the parking brake and emergency brake are the same thing. For some reason, I always envisioned a separate braking system (P = parking brake set, emergency brake = hand brake).

Yeah, it doesn't help that the terms are used interchangeably laugh out loud
