How's the fam today, Chewy?
tl;dr: Don't install SysRestore Pro!
He's always talking about sexy time with the Queen, boner this, boner that. I just figured it was big. And that cockroach was BIG.
But now, that cockroach is dead.

That should also help with that pesky rubbing problem you seem to have developed lately.
Anyway the condensed version is that it was kicking up a little window at startup that only stayed for about 5 seconds. It had what looked like a movie scene with two Asian people kissing or an Asian guy in a fighting stance or whatever (it would be different every day), and Chinese characters (no English at all).
No malware/antivirus tool I tried ever found anything wrong; HiJackThis showed nothing; as far as I'm concerned my laptop is clean. I was going crazy! If I clicked on the window I got a download for ppstream but I can't find anything about this program other than people who use it to stream Chinese-language movies and TV shows.
So finally I start digging this morning because I'm sick of wondering if all of my traffic is being snooped, or worse (I use an SSH tunnel to my buddy's CentOS server in NJ for all of my browsing because reasons, but still) and I search the registry manually looking for a few letters from the download URL, and find that very URL nestled snugly down in SysRestorePro's hive.
I took a bunch of screenshots and I'll put it all together coherently later. That shit's uninstalled and I am going to let whoever sponsored that download know about this. That's some bullshit man!
edit: here's the popup:

It's actually a little more cluttered than usual due to the screenies I'm saving there from this nonsense + a couple of small writing pieces I'm playing with.
The wallpaper changes (Win7's "nature" theme I think). I am learning to use Rainmeter & will have a bitchin' custom desktop theme soon.

I know right. I feel partially at fault for being in a rush, but seriously . . . .
