A friend and I switched out all the door speakers, and I'm all set up with a line-in for mp3 player or Pandora. The sound is VASTLY improved now that I'm bypassing the factory amp and have good speakers in it. The twelve volt line I was trying to steal from the factory amp for my 80W amp is no longer reading voltage, but at this point I'm thinking I just won't care for a while.
And I soldered a burnt trace in the wiper control module so the intermittent wiper function works again Bluesbrother
You, sir, are awesome

EVER? i was thinking this was a mere homekeeping oversight

how does she even manage food prep? dish cleaning? etc?

thinking is a start bulb

yes! much needed analytical thinking bulb

at least your niece isn't home schooled

YES! "creatively" give the numbers....on the back of a picture, tag/necklace on a plushie or a special locket...something that she has and can refer to

as an 8yo, i had to make a call when my dad died, knowing where the family numbers were. i called my fav auntie a long wayz away, helped me a great deal before the official responders arrived
I don't know if ever but there were no paper towels here for days. She finally bought some paper products today, after our discussion. She's just such a space cadet. How do you discipline your kid for clutter if you are a worse offender? OMG

I wrote the numbers in the back page of her diary.
Sounds like you were a pretty resourceful little kid, CQ1 Wink

hug That is a tough situation. Hang in there. Pray for her. But maybe a lesson from Al-Anon is in order here: detach with love. Not saying your sister is one of our tribe, but similar lessons may be relevant. Maybe you only buy TP for yourself while you're there. Let her kid ask her why there's no napkins. Maybe the booth isn't worked and no smoothies get made tomorrow. It's not your job or responsibility!

I kind of agree with your mom about giving your niece some options though.

My tennis date this afternoon turned into tennis, then a walk around the Botanical Gardens, then a walk across the city, then dinner at Busboys & Poets (VERY cool restaurant/open mic/cafe/whatever), then another walk, then walking her to her side of town, and a nice kiss outside a Metro station (I missed my chance at the waterfront).

This feels much saner. Plus, she's going home to IL for 2.5 weeks tomorrow. LMAO
Good advice. I went to a later mtg and ran into some folks from the noon group, they were awesome and made me feel sooo welcome Cloud9
There's a détente in the sister battle for now- she should really learn how to have a civilized discussion. And prioritize needs.

It's been this way for soooo long - I think it's a birth order thing laugh out loud

A guy invited me to an am mtg by the ocean- sounds pretty awesome Cloud9

Hmmm
A normal date with a normal gal??? Faint

Howdy kidz. Slept like a farking rock this morning, until 11 am. Haven't done that in a very, very, VERY long time. Congrats to VQ for a good date experience, wishing you several more of similar quality. VViles, honey, "let it go". Sis won't change, and it's not within your power to change her. (Just my two cents.) Focus on niece, and form a quality bond so she's comfortable and secure with you. Make the most of your remaining two weeks with her. It will make your vacation time so much more valuable.

Nope

It's this little kid cartoon and the character is based on Fred Rogers. We watched a hilarious episode lady night about when to take bathroom breaks. Here's a tip- if you feel you have to Go- STOP! And go right away!! And wash your hands .nod:

No, it wasn't backed up.
That is all.
After 30 minutes in a Zip-lock bag in the freezer, I've been able to recover the most critical files from the failed disk drive. Thank you to physics class, electronic engineers everywhere, geeks on internet forums, and just plain good luck and fortune. Bowdown

That's almost as much as I learned from the Karate Kid.

I've been too much of a cat to ever actually try that. Awesome that it worked, though.

I've used that trick on three occasions, and had it work twice. The third time I suspect the drive was beyond salvage outside of a clean room anyway.

Glad you got your files back.

The two most critical files were unique to my home theatre configuration. One of them is a small VB.net program that controls the lights and dimmers. The other is the EventGhost [eventghost.org] configuration than interprets the infrared remote control and manages XBMC, and volume.

I'm rather Whee enthused to have recovered them. And that system will be backed up, now. Wink

I've tried that twice with no success. Both drives were seagate drives. The second time I got the drive to activate, but it still wouldn't spin. Lesson: don't buy seagate drives.

So I told Biker during the beginning of December to not buy himself anything between then and Christmas. Last Tuesday I bought him a blu-ray player for his Christmas present. Guess what he did this weekend? He bought himself a new TV, a sound bar, and a freakin blu-ray player. Mad
