Forum Thread

The lounge really has gone downhill.

What is with the new people constantly going into threads and cutting people down? Why are we putting down other's screennames? why are we so goshdarn rude? This site has gotten out of control and mods really need to take control of the rudeness of it. This site used to be such a nice place to hang out. Now you have to stand up for yourself in every thread you make because the asshats come along and either hijack the thread or will start being, well, asshats. And people wonder why we start going to other forums?

We have the mod alert feature for a reason, people. Use it. There are eleven of us, and thousands of all of you. We can't read every post.

The Lounge is what you make it. You have the control to help make it better. You want a better Lounge? Be pro-active and do something about it.

Why do the docs think you have Lupus? Was it brought on by your blood clot or something that caused it?

LOL...I know...I'll try to blend in. Though it would be funny to have the name Farktard. Or what about Farktardy? laugh out loud j/k. I'll probably just be Autumn or some variant there of so you'll know which one is me laugh out loud

They think because FVL (the clotting disorder I have) and Lupus anticoagulant (APS) can go hand in hand. Since all of this happened all of my joints hurt SOOOO much (to the point it takes me several minutes to get out of bed in the morning.) Also, another sign of APS can be unresponsive to Coumadin. I'm on an incredibly high dose a day (my pulmonologist said he has never treated someone on this high of a dose before) and I'm barely therapeutic. When I say my joints hurt, it's more like every single ounce of my body is killing me. My fingers swell because the joints are so swollen.

Also, I am losing my hair *sob* Coumadin can cause that but I started losing my hair before taking Coumadin. I'm going to be farking bald before long.

My shit is falling apart. Anyone know of a Slick Deal on a new body and set of lungs???

Flossing your teeth? Wtf were you thinking? Stick Out Tongue

A friend mentioned this to me yesterday (about something else)..but have you ever thought of trying acupuncture? It's not like you don't have enough needles sticking in your body at the moment Stick Out Tongue But seriously...from what my friend told me and then some articles I've read about it since then..it really seems like it has some amazing results.

My only concern about acupuncture is that I bleed like no tomorrow (dripped blood everywhere last week) when I have my finger sticks to test my INR (how fast/slow my blood is clotting.) I actually bled all over myself and the clinic office on Monday from a stupid finger stick and my INR was only 2.2 (should be 2.0-3.0) Thankfully that was the only time that has happened. Normally I only bleed through the bandaids. Do you know if you bleed when getting acupuncture while taking high doses of blood thinners?

That sucks Frown

Here's something I found. If you're interested you could probably talk with your Dr. and get his/her opinion.

What if I'm taking blood thinners or other prescription medicines? Patients on blood thinners can still benefit from acupuncture. It is a misconception, even among some physicians, that patients who are taking blood thinners should not have acupuncture. Acupuncture needles are 1/10th to 1/100th the sized of needles used in the hospital. Every patient who is on blood thinners has his or her blood tests taken with needles ten times the size of acupuncture needles. Acupuncture needles do not cut into large veins like hypodermic needles. There is no evidence that acupuncture further thins the blood. Certain Chinese herbs should be avoided or limited while taking blood thinning medications. Always tell your acupuncturist if you are taking blood thinners.

Haha, they address being on blood thinners. If I were to do acupuncture, I'd have to do it without the consent of my doctor. She's very straight forward and not into the alternative medicines. I spoke to her about nattokinase, which has shown promising results to dissolve clots and she completely dismissed it.

I hate that! Annoyed My MIL had cervix cancer years ago and she tried some alternative medicine thing (Not sure what exactly..this was before I met my husband)...and instead of having less than a year to live.. it completely went away in a matter of weeks/months. That was about 15 years ago. There are lots of stories about things like that...I wish some Drs wouldn't dismiss them so quickly.
