Allow me to introduce.... OSCAR!!!

Puppy!

We picked this little guy up from a rescue on sunday. He's a lab mix. We're not quite sure of his breed. This is my first dog... Maggie's had many.

He's a happy little camper... unless we leave him alone. We are crate training him. He's not very fond of that at all. He'll grow out of it though. He came from a litter of 5, so up til sunday night, he had never spent a moment alone in his short life. It's kinda cool that we can go outside and he just follows us.

Anyhow, he needs a name, and we're still undecided. Dontknow I kinda like "Champ". We live right by Lake Champlain, which has it's own version of the Locke Ness monster called "Champ". Maybe Oscar. Maybe Joey. (Cats - Chloe+Zoe)

While I'm being a postwhore... why stop here? I had a fun weekend at Lake George NY... rented a pontoon boat and explored the lake. My MIL is looking to buy a pontoon boat so we thought we'd test drive one. (if anyone has advise on brands or anything.. I'm all ears since she's kinda put me on research)

Yesterday, I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, and also 4 biopsies on these little white spots on my cheeks. I chew my cheeks a lot so they're pretty sure it's just scar tissue, but yea, my mouth is a bit of a mess right now. God bless good painkillers. Weeeeeeeee!

Hey man! Yeah, it really was. He far outlived expectations for his breed. It was so hard to decide it was time... but his legs were failing him.
Some time ago we had to put DW's Crocker down...he was a pound puppy (actually several years old when we got him) who was epileptic, had bad hearing as those floppy ears get infected all the time and couldn't produce tears very well, so his eyes gummed up.
I found that if I pounded on the floor with my hand he could find me...kind of like brail if you will.

Eventually when his teeth got so bad he really couldn't eat, we knew it was finally time.
Super hard to put down a dog. Hit me pretty good even though it was her dog.

Yeah, it's been something we knew was coming, but there was nothing catastrophic going on to force it. Just a quality of life thing for the poor boy. Made it almost more difficult when there was no sense of urgency. Alas... it was the right choice, for him. Now we've just got a cat, a dragon, a parrot, and chickens.... Whee Oh.. and a beaver... but he's being vacated this week.

Sorry for your loss. My little buddy (Clifford) has been with me for 10+ years now. He's an energetic little old man of 13 and I dread the day he leaves me.

I paid over a thousand dollars last year between cleaning my dogs teeth and pulling bad ones. I'm so scared to do it again since he's another year older and they have to put him under to do it. I'm just afraid he's not going to come out of it.
