Allow me to introduce.... OSCAR!!!

Puppy!

We picked this little guy up from a rescue on sunday. He's a lab mix. We're not quite sure of his breed. This is my first dog... Maggie's had many.

He's a happy little camper... unless we leave him alone. We are crate training him. He's not very fond of that at all. He'll grow out of it though. He came from a litter of 5, so up til sunday night, he had never spent a moment alone in his short life. It's kinda cool that we can go outside and he just follows us.

Anyhow, he needs a name, and we're still undecided. Dontknow I kinda like "Champ". We live right by Lake Champlain, which has it's own version of the Locke Ness monster called "Champ". Maybe Oscar. Maybe Joey. (Cats - Chloe+Zoe)

While I'm being a postwhore... why stop here? I had a fun weekend at Lake George NY... rented a pontoon boat and explored the lake. My MIL is looking to buy a pontoon boat so we thought we'd test drive one. (if anyone has advise on brands or anything.. I'm all ears since she's kinda put me on research)

Yesterday, I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, and also 4 biopsies on these little white spots on my cheeks. I chew my cheeks a lot so they're pretty sure it's just scar tissue, but yea, my mouth is a bit of a mess right now. God bless good painkillers. Weeeeeeeee!

Your gonna need a few things..

First.. Stickey this thread.. What my Dog ate today

Next time at the pet store..
Buy some KONG products,

a Nylabone,

and some other chew type toys...

Gus loves his BIG MEAN KITTY

AVOID RAWHIDES.... Most Labs and mixes.. Get the Worst FARTS and digestion issues from those things... Mine.. Will not poop right for a few days..
laugh out loud thanks.

I'm not used to having to 'dog proof' things. I'm preparing myself by assuming the worst. I've loved my Harmony remote control... but I know he's gonna eat it... it's just a matter of time.

He's sneaky. He's crapped in the house twice so far... and both times he was out of my sight for only about 10 seconds. He's already showing signs of improvement though.

Oh, he's outside taking a leak.. and I thought I'd join him. Well he found this rather interesting! I'm peein'... and he runs right under me to check it out. Well I do everything I can to prevent the little guy from taking a golden shower... but he wasn't making it easy. I think I got him a little bit. laugh out loud

He was the only one in the litter with that coat. We really have no clue. The shelter folks admitted that they can only guess. (though they did mention boxer as a possibility)

awwww. he's adorable!

i have a pit/lab mix and she was hell during her teething stage. she chewed the hose off the side of the house, chewed holes in the carpeting, ate one of my shoes, and started to chew on the corner of the wall. keep anything and everything that you dont want chewed up away. and be sure to stock up on a lot of rope toys!

So uh... we're crate training him. Anyone know how long it might take for him to be comfortable with being locked up? He's about 8 weeks old. It's been 3 nights now... and he just screams his bloody head off almost all night long. Just curious how long to expect this to go on.

Good news... in only a day and a half we seem to have him trained to relieve himself outdoors only! How cool.

We went over the inlaws house last night... and they've got a pool. Puppy went for a swim. He stepped right into the deep end of the pool expecting it to be solid or something. Confused Splash! I was nearby so I scooped him up the second he surfaced. laugh out loud He's a trooper. Didn't seem very phased at all... yet he learned enough to not do it again.

The inlaws have a little kick-me-dog around 6 months old. Oscar kicked his butt and stole his toy. laugh out loud

You should put something near his crate that makes noise like an older alarm clock that ticks loudly or one of those baby heart beat toys so he doesn't feel so lonely. He came from a large family to your quiet little one. Poor lil' guy is lonely. Sadwalk
