Ok im gonna do it...do not try to talk me out of it! ( buying new car)

After many years of hoopdie cars..I'm going to get a new one...that last 400 dollar radiator did me in on my little car...and with a soon to be 2xxlb 6 foot tall son and a BF its time to get a larger nicer car....I've been driving a 87 crx...so I need more room!

Hondas are my first choice...

I narrowed it to the 2012 EXL 2.4 i owned a 01 with leather and dang it I want that again...moonroof I can do without..but I like the alloy wheels and it does get decent gas mileage

Found one at the dealer with 62xx miles..they wanted 25909..also comes with 100000 honda certified warranty.

Kbb trade in is 21818..,no problems with carfax..and it was sold originally by this dealer and stayed pretty much in this area its been at dealer for about a month...

I have financing at 4.73 with 84 months if over 20000 dollars..I am going to look into refinancing in the future at lower rate. I also get 90 day delay on first payment...

I also average 7000 mi a year..I've been renting cars for out of town trips..family is about 5 hr drive...I see them about 3 to 4 times a year...but I'm thinking more now with newer wheels!

I am ready for pros and cons! I am planning on running this to 200000 miles or more!

Oh and where is the car advice thread? I need to rehearse and get ready to deal with dealer...

In this day and age, email is often the best way to go with a lot of business-type transactions since there's an electronic trail of all communication between the parties. On my last 4-5 car purchases in the last 8-10 yrs, I've used solely email with all my talks with the car salesppl. The old dealership ploy of promising X car at X price over the phone are pretty much over. Because, with the printed email in hand, it wouldn't be smart for the dealership to try to pull a bait and switch.

I think you are going to get a great deal, e-mail is the way to go - and we want to see a pic of your car when you get it. I agree with your asking for a breakdown of the tax, title, and "fees". Go prepared with your folder and your pen.
Thanks for the boost! I am liking the wheeling and dealing..lol....

I also just read about the two recalls on the Veloster..one for sunroof shattering and the
other for parking brake...OMG

And yes pic will be posted!

Looks like you have decided on the Hyundai. Did you check the Costco Pricing? If you have a costco card, log into costco and enter your zip and membership and it should generate your local auth costco dealer. Get the name and phone number and call them and they will tell you over the phone what the car's pre arranged cost is. Last I used this, the OC dealer said $300 under their invoice which was the same invoice as Edmunds.

Also find out who the volume hyundai dealer is.. and give them an email. Also look farther out to see what a good price farther dealers are offering for your info.

Some dealers are adding a Tire fee..others are not...should that be in the fee section?

Capitol Hyundai in San Jose offered 192xx. After 500 rebate for silver 2013 Elantra Limited with gray leather interior. I went with Modesto as it was closer.

They did try to sell the warranties and did a switcherroo on financing...they had my original financing..but it changed at this last step..the interest rate was lower..and the same terms... But different bank... Ally bank.
They had better rate than my credit union. So i went with it...

So happy with car...little growing pains..but it is an awesome car for price!

We're all glad it worked out for you. Congratulations on the new car!!!! Happy Holidays.

Reps for updating us with the end result - not everyone is considerate enough to do that after they've gotten their free advice.

EDIT: Oops, just found out we're not allowed to rep in the general advice forum. Sorry, good luck.

1. You didn't put any cash down at all?
2. How long did you finance and at what rate?
3. Doc fees are pure profit for dealership, I always negotiate that in as part of the cost of the car. I never let them add on any extra fees (aside from TTL), and I tell them that at the beginning of negotiation.

They counted the rebate as a down...so car came out to 19499

72 mo at 5.25

I didnt think to negotiate doc fees...Frown. California does have a limit of 80 on the fee.

i would have used the penfed car buying service to get that price. they quoted 20069 for the elantra limited
and you could have financed at 1% at 60mo for the exact same car payment you have now at 5.25% at 72mo
