THEN I get asked while I'm there to farking SPEAK tomorrow night... and I already had plans with the gf to spend the night since I'm working from home on Thursday... so the gf is gonna come hear me talk for half an hour about what an awful alcoholic I was and how I got sober. Which story she's only heard some small parts of, and that not often. Could be... interesting.

I haven't spoken in over a year... typically if possible I'd decline b/c I get way too wrapped up in myself & it's very bad for the old ego, but this guy was in a bad spot, he had people cancel on him last-minute.
Sigh.
The only good thing is, nobody remembers what you say anyway.
