Knitters/Crocheters

I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about. Big Grin

I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.

I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.

Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

Sugar & Cream is on sale for $1 right now. I bought 10 yesterday for my grocery bags. Happy happy!
Hey,
I just bought a bunch of that to make grocery bags with also, then realized I don't have any good patterns. Where did you get your pattern? Thanks

Mine is an evolved pattern - originally from this book [amazon.com] but modified with a larger hook and I turned the single tied handle into two handles.

I've also made the one attached to this post (free pattern) but I am going to have to dig in this thread to find the picture of it. I'm not fond of the handles...

Found the picture:

Anyone know if Michaels sells sewing machines? Last time, I wanted to use the coupon for a sewing machine, but I couldn't find one. I asked one of the sales people and she said they don't carry sewing machines in that store. I was wondering if other stores carry them.
Try www.patternreview.com, which has a sewing machine review section. You have to register but it's free. You might even want to visit a sewing machine dealer where you could try out a few machines before making a decision, and they can give you advice on what kind of feature you'd want based on what kind of sewing you plan to do. I bought a computerized machine last fall (dream machine Big Grin) because I do a lot of quilting, seamstress work, etc. The automatic needle threading is a godsend for my middle-aged eyes! LMAO

Mesh bag v 5.0! Whee

Shorter mesh area, shorter handles - can't wait to test it out!

At what point does it become my pattern and not plagiarism? Scratchchin I'm still using the bottom and the mesh but I've completely changed the number of rounds on the mesh and completely changed the handles from one big fat tied handle to two separate handles.

Thanks! I'm pretty proud of them. Once I test this latest bag I'm going to start really cranking them out so I can have a set of 10 for my regular shopping trips. Flex

My sister wants black EEK! blankets for the twins next. She's weird. She's going to put pink ribbon through the edge of one and blue through the other and will use them to cover the babies in the stroller when they're out an about.

Thats such a difficult question to answer. I know that at Crochetville and Ravelry it's a very touch topic. Do a little searching on the forums. I imagine you'll find this discussed in depth!

I wouldn't want to sell it - just share it with people. I'll search and see what I can come up with. Smilie

I received this Vera Bradley bag as a gift and needed something to add a little organization to the stuff inside so I made this little pouches in coordinating colors.

I had to go to your Ravelry to see the pictures of the little bags, BarbaraJean - they're great!

I finished another blanket for the babies. The next two will be black. Shocking I hope my eyes don't cross after working on black yarn for a month.

Someone I know, wants to know why they can make socks by knitting but not mittens, and needs help - any ideas I can give them on this subject for any knitters here? I haven't a clue what to tell this person EEK!

Wouldn't mittens be like socks, but with a little thumb area laugh out loud

Here's a free knit mitten pattern: http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chr...32-e2.html

I don't knit at all - and have no need for mittens here so I haven't bothered to figure them out in crochet.

Tell your sister to sign up for Raverly.com - so much inspiration there! Lots of patterns, too!
