Knitters/Crocheters

I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about. Big Grin

I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.

I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.

Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

I FOUND MY ANSWER! I FOUND MY ANSWER!

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!Crazylaugh

I was on the verge of tears so many times it wasn't funny. My dh would stop and calm me and try to offer help where he could. I resorted last night to undoing the 10 or so inches(fourth try of more than a few inches)and started over just going to purl the entire thing and not have any change (since I could purl and not have the crazy loops)

I didn't get anything done today with the knitting so I decided to paruse the shelves at wally's and buy some inspiration yarn. (My 4yo wanted me to buy him yellow yarn so I could make him a hat shake head poor baby has no clue what mommy has been through) I was just searching the net looking at patterns and trying to decipher the terms and went to look up what they meant and checked knittinghelp.com. From PG's recommendations. I was skimming through and noticed the vast selection of vids and started watching them all from the begining and about an hour into them

I skipped to look at the pics and what do I see..."Loose side stitches/Messy edges

Watch the above Demo of a small project, for tips on how to deal with this common problem. "
http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitt...s/misc.php

VOILA!!! Hey, that sounds like my mess there... says watch above video. I do and it all seems so simple... I kinda feel bad for asking yall for so much help but I am glad I have a few people that I can chat with re my new hobby.

Thank you to you all (Esp, PG) for the advice and kind words I REALLY appreciate it!hug

Now I am off to finish that scarf and make my ds a yellow hat.

Aww, good! I'm happy for you. I know how frustrating it can be to get stuck on a project. I was no help at all because I haven't a clue about knitting. I only crochet.

Uh oh, now there are some unsupervised needles in your house that might be plotting against you. Time for a needle rodeo to round up the strays.

Great hat BTW.

Thought this was nice, figured I'd share it... I apologize for the length.

THANK GOODNESS IM A KNITTER
Today at work, for the umpteenth time, I listened to a childs tale of
woe. The exact details may be different, but the underlying stories are
always the same
.no one likes me
.I cant do anything right
. I just wish my mom would stop drinking
.I wish everyone would leave me alone

My magic wand is working overtime, and its not enough. There is no
magic to fix anyones problems. I cant fix the people who are making
life miserable for this child, who have turned this child into someone
who creates his or her own problems.

But I do have a magic wand of sorts. Its called a knitting needle.
Sometimes, I will purposely be knitting when a student comes to see me,
and of course they will ask about it, and say its cool, and I can offer
to teach them to knit. If there is a glimmer of interest, then I have my
foot in the door.

Sometimes the kids will see me wearing something Ive knit, usually a
scarf, or maybe one of my felted bags. They want to know how to do it,
is it hard, could I teach them? You bet!

Its a back door kind of way to give a kid some strength, some
ammunition for getting through hard times. Im a gardener; I plant
seeds. I give kids ideas to think about. I try to give them a few skills
to glide through the pitfalls with a little more ease. I teach them to
knit for the same reasons that I would teach a child to read; because it
offers a world to escape to at times, because it offers some solace when
the world is hard to bear, because it gives a person some strength to
make weaknesses seem less harsh.

Thank goodness I am a knitter.

Hot damn, that is awesome.

Grey: It doesn't get more ambiguous than that.

I can blend in with our skyline and the people I clothesline will never see me coming.

Woo hoo.

Thank you ever so much.

That sweater is pretty! Soon enough you can make one of those yourself! Big Grin

I'm a pain when I go through the stores because I'm always looking at the stitches on knitted items and saying, LOOK at this sweater!!! I can make that eventually!!! And look how much they're selling it for!!! I could make it for cheaper than that!!!
