I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about.
I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.
I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.
Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

Any tips on getting the handles to not look funky would be great. It's a chain of 50 that is attached to the other side and then 2 rows of SC are added. No matter what I do it seems to half-twist. Going to have to work on that...

Hi! Handles can be tough to get right. I would suggest buying a handle to crochet to the bag. I've never tried this but have read of others doing it: cut a lid to a Cool-Whip (or similar) bowl into the shape of a handle and then crochet single crochets around it and attach it to your bag.
How big is the bag? It looks like it would be good to use during the summer for beach/pool/park outings too

Dd came home today and said that a boy in the other class rotation has cancer. ( I don't know what kind but dd is going to ask tomorrow) Apparantly he has been out for some time but the teachers are just telling the kids what is wrong with him. Dd said her class made up a care package today with a few things to cheer him up while going through his chemo. I want to make him a few caps but I am unsure as to how I should approach giving them to him as I don't know the family at all.
As d was telling me about the boy she said oh, you remember that boy that we saw getting the cans a few months ago? (We were house shopping this summer and we passed a blazer stopped on the side of the road while the dad sat in the drivers seat the kids were jumping out picking up cans.) I replied yes, she said that is him he is the one who is sick. My heart sank as I remember it being so hot that day and those kids jumping in and out picking those cans up and that boy trying to hide as we passed because he saw dd in our van.
So what I can gather is the family doesn't have much and I don't want them to feel like I am trying to shove something on them. Who knows, they may take anything with open arms or they might be offended. I don't know, but I think it is only right that I do this. It may not be much but as I told dh his hair is probably starting to fall out and it is starting to get cold down here. I think he might like having a few caps to put on wether he is cold or if he is not feeling good and doesn't want people looking at his head.
Anyway, What I am asking, do you think I should just make the caps and mail them or take them by his house, or do you think I should make a couple at first and send them to the school for the teacher to send?
