Knitters/Crocheters

I know that there are a few of you.
I have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm attempting some new things. I'm actually using patterns now, where before I just knitted whatever came about. Big Grin

I'm beginning to realize that I only have small needles and I'm becoming a yarn snob.

I knitted a hat for my nephew, one for myself (no patterns), a baby-carrier (no pattern), and now I'm going to start working on some fingerless gloves.

Anyone else? Any deals on good yarn, needles, etc.?

Yes, I did! The colors are a delightful blue and yellow but I'm not sure if many people are using that combination right now. It's very bright!

The workmanship is fantastic. The yarn was sold by KMart, 8 oz for $2.44. 67% Orlon 33% Dacron, 4 ply worsted weight. It appears to be a brand made for KMart.

Ah, it says "Orlon Acrylic and Cacron Polyester are registed DuPont Trademarks. So it's acrylic and polyester. It feels pretty nice, softer that RedHeart.

I'm not allowing myself to get started on it until I finish up the afghan I'm working on for a friend who is having a baby. Wink
Those are some really interesting colors together. Smilie

Anyone have any clue how to fix my project? Please

Have you counted the stitches in a row that appears to have no dropped stitches? Count one or two of those to figure out how many stitches there are supposed to be if you don't have a written pattern somewhere.

Then my best guess if you are, indeed, one stitch short- is the rightmost loop sort of facing downward in your photo. I would put that on a needle by itself and then either knit or purl (what is the rest of the row?) it back onto the other needle with the rest of the stitches.

Sorry-I don't know if this will help you or not-it's difficult to explain in text and is sort of "intuitive" if I have the knitting in my hands.

The SO has informed me that he would like to be Yukon Cornelius for a costume party- so I guess I'm knitting a red hat next.

Well Hathor, this is all she gave me.

She just needs to put it on a left needle and knit it like its the last stitch on a row.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. My guess is that if it's a dropped stitch, just pick up the farthest loop and knit with that.

I've learned quickly that perfection will get you nowhere in knitting. laugh out loud I would have frogged EVERYTHING if I tried to make it 100% perfect.

I know that it was the last stitch in the row. I guess I am too new to be 'intuitive' about it yet. Sadwalk

laugh out loud Not trying to be 'perfect', but that one stitch is now extremely loose and I can find no way to get it back on. Continuing and ignoring it just makes it look horrible and it will easily catch and rip apart. Frown I tried putting on various loops and I can't seem to get it on correctly. It won't tighten up nicely.

Try starting on the next row after you pick up that stitch- sometimes it will seem "loose" until you knit/purl another stitch on it- pull tightly before and after.

Iagree

Just slip that last loop on and knit it and keep going... eventually it will tighten up, I think.

For the crocheters. These are adorable and I bet you could pull together quite a few by next Christmas. Can you imagine a tree covered with these. Smilie

instructions here: http://marcisenders.typepad.com/a...et-sw.html

PG: that is insane, I can still barely pull together a basic stitch. Wink
