AWD code - D015700

50 off coupon - MUWA130 ( works only at airport locations)

Still this AWD code gave me the best price in NJ area(non-airport location) as well oralndo.

Now at non-airport locations where MUWA130 is not applicable, then use the BESTBUY coupon

MUPA005 - Up to 2500 Bonus Points/Paperless Coupon

at the time of reservation make sure to mention Bestbuy Member # to get the points credited.

2-day rental: earn 500 bonus points
3 or 4-day rental: earn 1,500 bonus points
5-day rental or more: 2,500 bonus points

Hope its useful for some.

Note - Though bestbuy avis page asks you to use a different AWD code, i was able to use this MUPA005 with the AWD code which i had - D015700

Do I need to have affiliation with a particular company/group to use this AWD ? I have heard stories of people getting the rate denied at the point of pickup because they dont have an Id for the company for which the AWD was issued.

Alamo $262.60 With All Taxes
Enterprise $304
Avis $379.94 LMAO
Thrifty $277 (1 driver)

Will do better using codes from:

That is quite inaccurate. I've rented cars at least several times per year in different markets in the US, and I find that, in my searches (traditionally orbitz, priceline, hotwire, and then trying out codes in the SD or flyertalk forums), and I can get any number of rental places that is cheapest at any one time, depending very much on the type of car, whether it was a weekend rental, a week rental, etc., and of course, the available coupon at that time. While Avis wasn't usually the cheapest, it sometimes was. These searches are (IMO) very exhaustive and repetitive searches take over an hour each time, and I repeat the search every week if the original prices weren't near my threshold ($15/day for most markets). If I didn't care what car I get, I usually get the lowest price bidding on priceline.

Recently (about a year ago), I found carrentalsavers website to be very convenient. Essentially, it entered the coupon codes for me, and conveniently compared other companies (with coupons) all at the same time. It saved me a lot of clicks. However, I found that it too isn't perfect, since it only uses the default (in their opinion, the best) coupon codes. I may need a SUV for 1 week. So, I may miss the SUV specific coupon at Budget, or the $50 off/week coupon at Avis.... Also, rates at any one specific rental places go up and down like stock prices! So, as you can see, for the absolutely best prices, you need to check as often as you are willing to spend the time....

Bottom line: several weeks ago, I looked for a week rental at SFO the first week of September. The best I could do for a intermediate (Altima) was just over $300 (after taxes) with Budget (try Aug31-Sept1). With the OP's AWD and coupon code, I got the same car for under $200 at AVIS! I double checked budget with my original coupons and the rate was only $16 cheaper. The default search on carsrentalsavers was way over $300 for the cheapest place (still Budget).

Thanks OP!

Great deal for me! Full sized for 8 days in San Jose for $255 w/tax. Next best rate I could find recently was Budget at $325 w/tax.

My only concern is whether or not this is a public rate. I don't want any surprises at the rental counter.

I could not find this giving me better rate than Hertz at BWI airport. Got close to $30/day with all fees with Hertz for Full Size car. Even Thrifty or any other rental companies don't offer this rate at BWI airport. I used Entertainment.com coupon code.

Called and was told it was a corporate rate AWD. The guy didn't have info on what company, but I'm not chancing getting to the airport and getting turned down.

Good to know. I've been trying to find out where this code came from. Thanks for the heads up! Smilie
