For kayaks specifically, back when I was looking they would ship any of what they carry in their warehouses to the store for free. That includes mostly what they typically stock in the stores. Some of the (mostly better) kayaks are drop-shipped from the manufacturer so doesn't apply to those. They did offer to split the cost with me on one that was drop-shipped but that was after negotiating with that particular manager.

The quality seems pretty good. Sturdy plastics, gel adjustable back rest, solid foot pegs that adjust with ease and one hand. Butt cushion is something that will tear up over time but its a dense memory foam and is not half bad. The handles at the bow and stern are attached with crappy rope so these would probably need replacing after a little while. Nice storage area behind the seat with bungee straps.
Overall I think its a great buy if you are looking for a kayak to go on the lake or calm river. Haven't put it in water yet, so no comments on tracking or stability. Based on its shape and form compared to other kayaks at Dicks, I couldn't see a very noticeable difference...but then again I'm no kayak guru.
I echo thinkfire - definitely a good deal, but nothing to profit off of immediately...but I'm betting I can use these for 2-3 years and resell everything for around $250-300

Puts a damper on summer paddling now (and probably in circles, due to the size)

Retail was $450, was on sale for $350, with opening a new cc, and dicks bonus pts I scored one for $310, including tax. I have now $30 in dicks points on future purchase which brings it to $280 (I bought a paddle), Do your slickdeal hunting and you can do the same. Don't buy a POS you will be unhappy with and will have zero resale value. You have to wait for a sale or you will get ripped.

Avail in yellow (I like bright colors on the water) or tan.
When a wave hits a sit inside, the water stays inside until pumped out or turned over to empty. If you are on a SOT (sit on top) they have built in scupper holes that drain that wave water out. I've seen new paddlers in sit inside yaks get a big splash from a passing boat and it fills the inside. The reentry from a capsize (it will happen, I promise) is much easier to get back on with a SOT vs sit inside.
Suggested models: Ocean Kayak Scrambler XT, Prowler 13 or 15, WS Tarpon 12, 14, or 16' (but the 16' is a beoch to turn in fast rivers), Necky Vector 13, and many others, but these are all I have had and have great reviews at Paddling.net, then hit reviews by brand, then model. One 10' that may work for many and is designed to paddle ok and is cheap is the now discontinued kayak that Costco sold 2 years ago. I see them on Craigslist often in the $200-300 range and they will at least get you on the water and are pretty decent for a small kayak. I really recommend you rent a kayak for a day or more and try before you buy as we all have different likes or wants. Longer is faster in the kayak world and these will hold a line much better and have more stability than a short kayak.
Good luck and hope you find a bargain
