240 bucks for a 4x8 decent little trailer that most crossover SUV's these days could pull, Requires assembly, but with another 60 in lumber and it'd be hard to find a heavily used one on craigslist for that cheap. Comes with title, just purchased one at my local HF.
Good Deal?

I built mine and used it to haul my 750lb bike across the country then to haul huge hay bells (Two at a time!) home to feed the horse. That's near the weight limit for this trailer. The tires even got hot! Kept on ticking.

That being said a friend bought one on my rec. He built it in the driveway at night in a piss poor mood. He loaded it with all he owned then hit the highway. Three hours later we got the call. Somewhere in Texas his trailer's bearings on one side seized, that wheel came off causing it to fishtail then flip. It dragged his overloaded van off the highway, sideways. The trailer was a total loss along with all he had on it. The van didn't flip. His wife and kids were in it. So, put extra grease on the bearings like I did and not like he did not.

These trailers DO NOT come with grease in the bearings, that is a corrosion inhibitor and is not grease.

I paid 59 bucks for permanent trailer registration, they came out to verify the vin matched the paperwork and gave me new trailer plates. they kept the title from harbor freight and will be sending one to me from the dmv. All and all it went pretty easy. I next task is to figure how to back up properly and look like a idiot !

anyone know if the harbor freight steel trailer side kit is still available? I can't find it anywhere.
So you spent $59 total on registration, title and no inspection? I guess not everything is more expensive in CA.

Side kits for the trailer:

Or you can make your own for about $100 in plywood, brackets, screws and paint:

Wow. In Colorado it's $40 every year!
Plus I had to get a VIN verification and then they issued me a new VIN plate at the DMV that I had to rivet to the trailer.

Got a set of bearing buddies for mine for about $30 (check the internets for the size - it's odd).

Yup $59 bucks. I re-packed mine with grease because of all of the horror stories I read. I can't believe HF would sell them like that without the proper disclosure.

I test drove mine and immediately checked the grease covers to see if they got hot. So far so good.

Been looking to get a trailer for a while and thinking of getting the HD non folding one.
It is $369 so $300+tax after 20% off. Not the best deal that could be had on this but such a PITA to go rent a trailer from uhaul every time I need one. Wish I could find a 25% off but dont think there are any at the moment.
BTW the foldable is still $299 right now.

Just make sure you understand all applicable state taxes and fees before you dive in or you might get a sticker shock. I paid $250 on $75 used trailer to the great state of MD.

Ive had trailers in CT before, its not that bad, just more of a hassle going to DMV.

But called 10 stores near me and no one has the 69897 1720lb no fold in stock so guess im out of luck...

I've owned this trailer for a year or so, towed 5 or 6 times with it. Worked as advertised, I did spend some extra time making sure it was built square and add sides etc. If I were to do it again, I would buy a cheap 5x8 prebuilt steel trailer with fold down ramp. I see those for $600ish and given all the little issues the HF trailer needs addressed, plus assembly time I really think the value is about the same. I paid $270 plus another $115 for wood/bolts and a weekend Doing assembly. My particular trailer had a few issues with tweaked hinges, had to cut the wood flooring to clear the hinges etc. So just be aware there might be a few issues to sort and given the weight, one would probably not take it back to exchange for another. Now I am noticing the paint is fading even though it is stored under a shed with no sun exposure. Glad I have it but would buy something else next time around.

It seems they all do nowadays, if not - people recommend talking to the manager and you will get one.
