Love Android as a Tablet Operating system but switching over from an iPhone 5 to a GAlaxy S5 has been a horrible experience. Here are the Highlights for anyone considering a change.
#1. Ever since 1999 you buy even a dumb phone. You could go to the phones OS and buy a Music Ringtone, not on Android or the Galaxy S5 even if you legally own music you can not assign it as a ringtone, you can't even buy Music Ringtones on the Google PLAY store, you have to buy it on PC, then hook up your phone, via cable theres no WiFi Sync or Bluetooth Sync like on the iPhone, then drag and drop files from your Music PC folder to your Phones Ringtone folder. Its awkward weird and about several steps too many. Its 2014 RIngtones should be a One CLick Purchase.
#2. Get ready to be driven nuts. For 30 years I have known a Key Press Dial tone, the tones Every single phone makes when you dial each Digit. Not on Android, it makes a Water Drop annoying sound that I can't begin to describe. You can disable it yes. But then you are forced to dial in Silence no dial tones. How are details like this not fixed ?
#3. Most people consider this a positive I don't Android affords alot of diversity and flexibility, to users and App developers. Ok fine but it also gives developers alot of freedom to do things like have an App turn of your WiFi radio. I can't tell you how many different Apps constantsly and for no reason turn on my WiFi. I have it switched off, I was never asked to switch WIFI on but somehow Apps say to themselves I need WIFI and switch it on. This is annoying and worrisome.
#4. Every App has about 4 different Menu systems. There a Settings Menu, there the Menus while the App is disable, Theres different Menus system when the App is open. And there usually another Menu button that does something else. Did anyone know that a different set of MEnu Options appear if you are on a Live active call vs while not connected to another caller.
Like i said in the begining, Android is a great Tablet OS, or NetBook OS, but when it comes to a critical device like a phone its horrible. I've never returned a phone so fast.
On top of all this confusion, Samsung Ads in a Music PLayer, Google has their Music Player, Sprint has a music player, and theres a 4th App music player that comes Preinstalled, Ok So which one do I use ? How confusing is this ? Not to mention all teh other Samsung Apps and services that Non Stop are requesting Sign In Attempts every time I look at a Picture.
