What can I do? I have a head cold and don't feel like working, but my no-good, two-faced, butt-licking, type-a, moron of a supervisor says I can either come to work or find another job.

Dear Sue,

I'm confused.

My wife and I bought our first house this past year and have been wanting to paint etc. for some time, but we find ourselves very busy. I know that my wife would very much like to paint our downstairs bathroom/laundry room as she hates the color.

The question I have is that I suggested that perhaps we do that this coming weekend as a Valentine's Day gift to each other. Something that we could both enjoy and be proud that we accomplished. She seemed very happy with the idea, particulary since she picked out the coloring scheme.

I've been warned by other men in my office that this is not very romantic on my part and may want to avoid any reference to "Oh, we painted the bathroom on one Valentine's Day" for the next 50 years.

So, should I scrap the painting idea and instead take her out for the day? Should I have her relax completely, and paint the room myself? Or should I stick to the plan, since I asked and she seemed to like the idea.

Regardless she's getting that matching crystal.
