Apparently, I haven't done enough driving this week. The 180-mile round trip Monday morning was uneventful, thankfully. Earlier today, I was stuck waiting on a non-moving train for too damned long. Tonight Mrs. Frog wanted to eat at a Greek family restaurant near my office. I had to drive home, pick her up, and drive almost back to work to get dinner. Returning home, traffic on I-77 northbound was still as bad as rush hour, for no apparent reason whatsoever. Stopped at the grocery store to pick up some fresh carrots and celery, and got home by 7:15. Browned two roasts while chopping the celery, carrots, and onions, then sauteed the veggies in the browned pots after removing the roasts. Got everything put together and swimming in beef broth and red wine, with lids on, and into the oven by 8 pm. Just about the time the baseball game is over (and it's looking like a Mets sweep Frown) the roasts will be done in the oven and take up residence in the crock pot. By then, it should be sometime between 10:30 and 11 pm, and I'll be ready for bed. Yawn

I really wish I could put the smell of these mirepoix veggies roasting and caramelizing into a bottle and sell the stuff. It honestly is like a freaking perfume, it's so intense. I feel so sorry for the little Yorkies, having to smell it and not getting to eat it. We do put a few spots of the pureed veggies/gravy on their food, though. They love it.
