Don't use too much mayo, and especially don't over-do the bread crumbs. Two biggest mistakes people make. Too much mayo makes them heavy/oily and too loose. Too much bread crumbs makes them dry. Whether you spice/season them New England / Maryland / Cajun style doesn't matter, just use a pinch or two of red cayenne pepper in your seasoning mix. It really picks up the flavor. Also, some fresh-squeezed lemon juice in the mix enhances the flavor.

Minimal mixing, so you don't break up the crab meat too much. You want everything to just barely come together, so you can form the crab cakes. Then use a hot skillet with just a few tablespoons of oil to sear the two outer sides of the cakes. A perfect cake has a golden-brown crisp outside (think like a grilled cheese sandwich) and moist, tender, tasty insides.

Emeril's recipe [foodnetwork.com] is the one I would recommend, but I'm slightly biased to the Louisiana/Cajun spice.

They definitely add a nice color to them. Equal parts red and green peppers, sauteed nicely before mixing into the cakes.

Can someone explain to me WHY I keep reading the opinions and rantings of the straight-up uneducated?

Part of my problem is that I'm almost constantly looking to be proven wrong on many subjects. I'll read a headline, think "that's pretty farking outrageous" and then read the article to see what it has to say. 9 times out of 10, it's sensationalist journalism and barely has any content. 1 out of 10 I might think about it. But man. Read the comments on sites with those headlines - it's like crazy bait. And the worst part is, is that it's an echo chamber of crazy. They all pat each other on the back and talk like they have it all figured out.
And this isn't limited to left or right, black or white, etc. Read the left wing articles and there's people talking about hugs being the answer to the Paris attacks. Read the right wing articles and there's people talking about nuking the entire middle east. The worst part, of course, is that this isn't hyperbole. There was vitriol in the nuke statement and a certain genuine naivete in the hugs one. Was the vision of the people always so black and white? Was there never nuance and I'm just expecting too much?

I have several 18 Volt Cordless tools. - DeWalt (Drills, Mini Impact, 1/2" Chuck Impact, Jigsaw, Sawsall, Circular Saw, Lights) Took 10+ years to amass this collection)

I'm at the point where I either need to get a new charger and more batteries as the 6 I have are dead or barely hold a charge. I don't know if the NiCad's are just dead or the charger is faulty and needs to be replaced.

So with BF approaching and Xmas sales...

I see Home Depot has either 100 off or 150 off on De Walt sets.
2x 3.0 Li Batteries
1 20v Hammer Drill - Brush-less
1 20v Impact Driver - Brush-less
$369 and get $150 other qualifying De Walt tools on the same purchase

2x 3.0 Li Batteries
1 20v Hammer Drill - Brushes
1 20v Impact Driver - Brushes
$299 and get $100 other qualifying De Walt tools on the same purchase

1 Thought is to get another 18v kit that had 2 batteries and a charger and drill with the 150 off.
This gives me a good new charger as well as 2 black top batteries and yet another 18v drill.

Or do I pile on a 20v kit or tool and pay separately for an 18v kit that nets me at least 1 battery and charger (and tool) saw one for $85.

I like to dice them into 1/4-inch to 3/8-inch pieces. I cut off the top and bottom of the peppers, remove all the pith/white flesh, cut the remaining pepper into thin slices, then chop the small slices. I use a mix of vegetable oil and a pat or two of butter.

NiCd batteries rarely last more than a few years at best. Time for some newer Lithium Ion batteries, which have a much longer lifetime. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Farking idiots asked for data mapping information a few weeks ago. I spent hours filling out two rather large spreadsheets, and passed it back to the requesting management individual. Find out later my predecessor participated in this same dog-and-pony show a year prior, and here's the results from that particular request. So this week, I get invited to online meetings every day to fill out what? You guessed it, the same damned spreadsheets, plus more of them.

IMO, the short version is "no, things have become more polarized", but there's a longer form explanation that involves a less homogenized culture than in past decade and other details. As someone capable of seeing the shades of grey, it's difficult to understand how other people can't see them, but the black and white viewers have the same perspective, I think. Example, the infamous blue & gold dress.
